Our Story
Let's Get Sporty is a not for profit social enterprise based in Dumfries and Galloway. We provide young people with training, mentoring and employment opportunities through the delivery of sport and physical activity.
As a non-for-profit organisation, all the income we generate gets reinvested in the community. Our community plan targets young people aged as little as 18 months all the way to older adults. We firmly believe in the benefits that sport can offer- healthier life style; enhanced social skills; improved self-confidence; developing balance and coordination and so much more……
Sport can also offer young people the chance to become employed and that’s why our trainee programme, targeting 16-24 year olds, can help shape people towards a brighter future. By developing the 4E’S of ‘Let’s Get Employed’, our young people are focusing on:
• Employability (C.V Writing; Interview Skills; Presentations)
• Education (Child protection; Health and Safety; First Aid)
• Experience (Sports Coaching; Office Duties; Customer Service)
• Enterprising (Marketing; Finance; Innovation and so much more)
We have an excellent track record with over 100 young people either moving into employment or further education. As a result of our hard work, Let’s Get Sporty was most recently awarded third place in the European Investment Bank Institute Social innovation Tournament. The flagship tournament was created to reward innovative projects from across Europe that create social value and combat social exclusion.
We have some fantastic services available that many of users take advantage of daily:
• Over 25 Sport Coaching classes that range in age from 18 Months-Secondary Level across Dumfries and Galloway.
• Deliver over 70 days’ worth of holiday camps across the year.
• A selection of birthday packages that include sport, food and party bags.
• Hire a Coach Service that supports schools; community groups; walking groups; events; nurseries, care homes and more with the delivery of sport and physical activity.
• Our Super Sunday Family Fun Day offers our fantastic families the opportunity to enjoy all that is on offer.
• Supporting the development of girl’s development classes throughout the region.
• Coach education and employability support training which caters for a wide range of needs and abilities.
• Trainee programme which supports young people into employment.
• Developing community facilities including Holm Park and Jocks Loaning to provide services for local communities.
• A wide range of inflatables to hire including our bouncy castle, shoot out target and soccer arena.
• Provide support for disability classes across D&G.
• Delivery of walking groups and sit-down sports to older adults.
