TinkerTech is now a design services company
As Michigan begins to re-open from our extended period of lock-down, here at TinkerTech, we've considered what that might look like for us. Because the core of what we strove to do at the makerspace was sharing tools and teaching through extended face-to-face interactions, we've determined that we will not be able to re-open in a manner that would allow us to simultaneously maintain social distancing protocols and provide a makerspace experience with which we would be satisfied.
You may or may not be aware that before and during the period of the makerspace's existence that TinkerTech has also operated as a design and consulting company. This being the case, we're relocating our tools to a yet undisclosed lab space where we'll be focusing on:
- Mechanical Hardware
- Embedded Systems (Hardware, Firmware, & Architecture)
- Web Applications
- Graphic Design
As we build out our processes and menu of services, we'll send out occasional updates on what we're up to. If you have any immediate need of the above services, please send an inquiry to [email protected].
We're sad that we won't be able to continue providing a makerspace to the Ypsilanti community for the time being, but when the logistical constraints we now operate under are eventually lifted, we may explore a volunteer-run makerspace concept. If you'd be interested in being involved in a potential future organization in a leadership or fundraising role, please drop a note to [email protected] with your name, contact information, and desired level of participation so we can contact you in the future.
If you were a member and believe you've left any materials at the shop, please email [email protected] to make arrangements to pick them up.
Until we're able to make a second pass at a makerspace for Ypsilanti, for your making needs, please check out Maker Works in Ann Arbor. Situated in a much larger space, they have recently been able to re-open with various coronavirus mitigation procedures in place.
