In honor of Women's History Month, we want to give Trinity IT's software development intern, Elisa Holland, a shout out.

Elisa has participated in two internship paths with Trinity IT over the past year and a half - Front-End Software Development and Back-End Software Development - while pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Temple University.

While the list of her achievements is long, her favorite responsibility at Trinity IT is a research initiative on AWS AI services. Thanks to Elisa, we are learning how we can leverage these tools in our projects.

"My career has been driven by my passion for innovation," said Elisa. "I aspire to continue to work on cutting-edge technologies, like AI, where I can help shape the future of how we interact with our world."

Elisa Holland's reach goes beyond Temple and Trinity IT; she is also a pillar in her community. Elisa dedicates her time to local schools as a coding instructor, and she's found fulfillment in helping students realize their potential.

When she's not immersed in tech, she said, you can find her out in nature - hitting the slopes on a snowboard, rock climbing and hiking.

Dorothy was one of the Black female mathematicians and human computers in the segregated West Area Computing Unit at NACA (now called NASA). Not only did Dorothy's computer programming and mathematical expertise play a pivotal role in the century-long success of the United States' space program, she became the first African American manager in the entire agency in 1949.

After NASA integrated, Vaughan joined the new Analysis and Computation Division (ACD), a division with gender and racial integration. From there, she became an expert FORTRAN programmer and continued her successful career at NASA until her retirement in 1971.

If Dorothy Vaughan sounds familiar to you, that may be because her success was brought to light in the book (and movie) Hidden Figures.

Dr. Valerie Thomas is the inventor of the Illusion Transmitter - a 3D satellite imaging tool that NASA has been using for decades. The Illusion Transmitter, which Dr. Thomas patented in 1980, creates an optical illusion that an image is 3-dimensional.

Dr. Thomas also developed processing software that turned scientific data into usable and understandable information for NASA's LandSat Program. According to NASA, this program "provides the longest continuous space-based record of Earth's land in existence."

As a scientist, inventor and mentor, Dr. Valerie Thomas is an inspiration to all, especially young women and girls of color who aspire to a career in science and technology.
