2 Years Later — We Remember Hurricane Helene

2 years ago, Hurricane Helene changed our community forever.

In just a matter of hours, homes were damaged, trees covered our roads, power lines came down, communications were disrupted, and so many of our neighbors were left wondering what came next.

But in the middle of all that devastation, we saw something stronger than the storm:

We saw our community come together.

Neighbors checked on neighbors. Strangers became friends. First responders, linemen, local businesses, churches, volunteers, and families stepped up wherever they were needed.

And at Zoom Telcom, we went to work.

Our employees worked day and night, clearing paths to damaged equipment, repairing fiber, rebuilding portions of our network, and restoring service one customer and one neighborhood at a time. We also setup hotspots around different communities to let loved ones contact other loved ones to let them know they were ok. We were for a while the only means of communication.

For us, it was personal.

These weren’t just customers waiting to have their service restored. They were our neighbors, our friends, our families, and the people we see every day.

While larger providers fixed other areas first, our attention was right here—at home.

Our crews didn't have to travel here to help our community recover.

We were already here.

We live here.
We work here.
We raise our families here.
And when our hometown needed us, we were here.

We will never forget the destruction Hurricane Helene left behind, but we will also never forget the kindness, strength, determination, and sense of community that followed.

To our employees who spent countless hours working to reconnect our neighbors—thank you.

To our customers who showed patience, offered encouragement, brought our crews food and drinks, and simply stopped to say thank you—we haven't forgotten.

And to everyone who played a part in rebuilding our community—we are incredibly grateful.
