EMBER Audio + Design is a HiFi stereo shop, modern furniture store and modern/pop art gallery, located in downtown Winston-Salem, NC.

We are a classic, every-customer-matters, stereo shop that is always growing and evolving to meet our customers needs and our own needs to play with really neat toys! We believe in in-home auditions, learning new things all the time, loving music and film, art and great design. We like to experiment with brands and see how different things fit together. We welcome input, feedback and requests. Most of all, we're here to help if you have any questions about anything audio or video related!

The Compass Collection by Moon is truly a spectacular one. With the 461 and 491 on our showroom floor constantly supplying the sweet tunes we listen to everyday you should stop by and give them a listen!

PASS Labs needs no introduction. Their vibrant, dynamically rich heavy-iron approach to music reproduction is well-documented, and this pair is in exquisite condition, and ready to drive anything.

This matched set of the modern classic XP/10 + X250.5 offer you a fully balanced all-analog approach to music - and the performance is as good as you can get, starting with the amplifier's first 20 or so watts, all in class-A, of 250 available.

Needless to say, these are lifetime pieces for most, and while the amplifier isn't exactly 'small', it is fairly cozy in scale given the vast performance it offers. Both units are in perfect condition, inside and out, and ready to audition at a price that beats the low average of what is on the internet!

Today, the world lost a true icon. Someone who bridged us all. No matter age, race, or genre, Dolly Parton was a gift that kept on giving. Born in Sevierville, Tennessee, she was one of 12 children in an area so poor and rural, most didn’t have a formal education beyond 3rd grade. Despite it all, she became country music’s biggest star, globally adored, a gracious philanthropist, and a beauty for the ages.

Over her 60+ year career, she produced 50 studio albums and penned more than 4000 songs for herself and others. In 2023 Rolling Stone declared that Dolly had one of the best singing voices of all time. Dolly had a unique outlook on how she presented herself. She quipped to Barbara Walters in 1984 that she “wanted to feel as glamorous on the outside as she did on the inside!” Modeling her look after the “town trollop” she proved early on that her looks were but a small part of her identity, often surprising new listeners with her genuine talent.

She championed being a friend to all, seeing through differences, and leading the way through child literacy, quietly giving away more than 250 million books worldwide as of this post. When her riches exceeded her own needs, she brought it all back home and in 1986, opened Dollywood in the smoky mountains of East Tennessee. The park serves as just one of her legacy’s, providing completely free college tuition to any of its 4000+ employees.

Living in the times we’re currently enduring makes Dolly’s passing especially difficult. It seems she was one of the last people that everyone could truly agree on. Her kindness shown in everything she did and she never grew tired of giving back.

Today’s entire work schedule got thrown off, as Zere spotted a little black kitten first thing, across the street The Ramkat - hiding inside their fence. She was being hunted by a hawk in the neighborhood.

Jeff, Chris and Zere spent the better part of an hour slowly coaxing her with some cheese and churu out of a groundhog tunnel, after the lovely owners of RamKat got us into the locked area she was hiding.

She (and we) were covered in red clay by the end of it, and got her calm enough for a sink bath, while Zere got her all her essentials for life as a baby with a home.

Jamie gave her a thorough bathing while we distracted her with more churu, and then she swaddled her in a little towel until we had a somewhat sleepy burrito.

She got hours of snuggles and kisses, and is now headed back with Zere and Taja to go live at their palace, to be safe and loved.

We didn’t make much headway at work, but we made a new little friend, and frankly, that’s just perfect.
