Morse Code Day celebrates the invention of morse code and the electric telegraph machine. This special event was established on this date to honor Samuel Morse, who was born on April 27, 1791.

Did you know the original “American” Morse Code invented by Samuel is hardly in use today? However, International Morse Code is still used by U.S. Navy intelligence specialists, amateur radio operator aficionados who form the International Morse Code Preservation Society, and aviators who communicate abbreviated identifiers via Morse Code!
