⚠️ DON’T COPY & PASTE THAT CODE! 💻🛑

Have you ever found a "quick fix" on TikTok, Reddit, or Discord for your MacBook that tells you to open the Terminal app and paste in a line of code?

👉 Do NOT do it! ❌
The Terminal app is incredibly powerful because it bypasses safety features to give you direct access to your Mac's operating system.

If you paste and run a command you don't fully understand, you can easily:

🗑️ Delete your files (and once they're gone via Terminal, they're often unrecoverable!).
🔓 Compromise your privacy by accidentally downloading malware or creating a backdoor on your device.
📉 Crash your system by breaking software, which can prevent you from opening apps or connecting to the internet.

🛡️ The Golden Rule: If you didn't write it or can't read it, don't paste it! Only run Terminal commands if they come directly from a verified SU IT Help Desk technician or official Apple Support.

If your MacBook is acting up or you need a troubleshooting hand, skip the internet "hacks" and bring it to us! We’re here to get you back up and running safely.

Don't fall behind on updates!

One of the easiest ways to protect your iML MacBook and iPad is also the one most of us ignore: software updates!

Those "Update Available" notifications aren’t just for new emojis or fancy features.

Most of the time, they contain critical security patches that fix vulnerabilities hackers use to access personal data and accounts.

🛠️ Stay safe with 2 quick habits:

Don't ignore the pop-up: Try to install approved updates as soon as they’re available (or do it overnight so it doesn't disrupt your study time!).

Keep apps updated too: Open the App Store and update O365, Outlook, and other study tools to keep everything running smoothly.

Take 5 minutes tonight to update your gear and keep your digital life secure! 🐝✨

Scammers are texting SU students and staff pretending to be university leaders asking for urgent favors, gift cards, or money.

Protect yourself this October:

❌ Don't reply or click links.
🔍 Verify by emailing the sender directly at their official .edu address.
🚫 Block & Report the number to [email protected].
💡 Remember: SU leadership will NEVER ask for gift cards, money, or passwords via text message!

Don't get locked out of Canvas, SU email, or campus portals! SMS text and phone call verification for your SUNet account will end soon. Make the switch to the Microsoft Authenticator app now to keep your account secure and seamless.

⏰ Deadline: Set up Microsoft Authenticator by January 8, 2027 (SMS & phone-call verification officially ends Feb. 1, 2027).

💡 Already using the app? Take 30 seconds to double-check that it’s connected to a device you still actively use!
