🎯 Most agencies track the call. Few track how the call impacted those who responded.

Public safety professionals face trauma at a scale most workplaces never see. The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) reports that firefighters experience an average of nine traumatic events in just one year of service, while most Americans experience three in their lifetime.

Here’s the gap. A critical incident gets documented for the report, the case file, and the after-action review. But each responder’s cumulative exposure often isn’t tracked anywhere. The child fatality in March, the pursuit in June, and the use of force last month can live in memory, or nowhere at all.

Leaders have a large role in whether responders get support, but they can’t act on what they can’t see.

Essential Personnel helps agencies track traumatic incidents and provides an early warning system to prevent anyone from slipping through the cracks. Leaders can see patterns sooner and reach out before someone is struggling alone.

The Essential Personnel team extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow firefighters of Durham Firefighter, Andrew Brokes who lost his life in the line of duty yesterday.

Early Thursday morning, Durham firefighters responded to a fire on Marly Drive, where a partial building collapse claimed the life of Firefighter Brokes and injured two others. We are keeping the injured firefighters in our thoughts as well, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

This loss is a heartbreaking reminder of the courage it takes to answer the call, and of the sacrifice firefighters and their families make every day to keep our communities safe.

As a proud partner of the Durham Fire Department, our hearts are with the entire department and the City of Durham during this incredibly difficult time.

We had a full room of partners from across Western North Carolina this week, and it was a great opportunity to spend time with the agencies we're proud to work alongside. Throughout the workshop, we connected face to face, heard directly from our partners about what's working and what they'd like to see next, and gave everyone a first look at some of the upcoming developments coming to Essential Personnel.

Conversations like these shape everything we build. The feedback, ideas, and best practices our partners shared will directly help us continue improving Essential Personnel for the agencies we serve.

🌟Teamwork makes the dream work, especially when you're all paddling in the same direction!🛶 🌊

With our EP All Hands and Western NC User Conference taking place in Asheville, North Carolina this week, members of the Essential Personnel team traded their keyboards for paddles to kick things off with a rafting trip! It was the perfect way to come together before the week ahead: lots of laughs, plenty of teamwork, and a perfect record of zero unplanned swims!

Moments like these remind us how lucky we are to work alongside such a great team. Now we're bringing that same energy into the rest of the week as we welcome our partners and prospects to gather in Asheville to share ideas, swap best practices, and talk about what's next for Essential Personnel!
