Today, we’re spotlighting Radu, our Head of Development and the ’Swiss Army knife’ of our operations. He’s competent to the core, with an amazing attitude to boot. Here are some of the contributions he recently made to Vitamin Software:

🔧Radu leads our Jira roll-out efforts, transitioning our existing projects to this platform. Thanks to him, we haven’t been too stressed about configuration, data migration, or process reviews.

📚 Whether a complex piece of code or the reasoning behind a new process — Radu always takes the time to explain details to team members. He breaks down information to confirm everyone’s on the same page, including the newbies.

🔍 Radu has a keen eye for detail and the skill to point out issues without causing personal conflict. Thanks to this ability, he spotted problems in our QA process for a major client and improved it with cleverly placed suggestions.

Radu is a force to be reckoned with and such a valuable addition to any tech company. We feel lucky to have him.

Go, Radu! 🌟

This week, we’re excited to celebrate George, our Head of AI and Data, for stepping up cross-departmentally to support our company. He’s been a Silent Hero on many fronts, including but not limited to:

💡 Marketing support: George is a key player in helping our marketers sharpen our messaging.

Today, we’re excited to give a shout-out to Daniel Andrei in our Vitamin Software Silent Hero series. As the Head of Architecture and Application Management, he’s been the force behind an app we’re developing for a major client (we can’t spill the beans on who just yet).

⏰Daniel’s work has been nothing short of excellent, especially under tight deadlines and the project’s many ups and downs. He stepped up, handling everything from writing user stories to documentation and project organization — all while juggling these tasks on a rigid timeline.

🌊 The project had its share of ups and downs, but Daniel remained calm and collected. His resilient attitude helped the rest of the team avoid panic and get stuff done, too.

Daniel, you’ve been instrumental in making sure we deliver something great, even under pressure. We’re proud to have you on the team! 🌟

Today, the Vitamin Software Silent Hero isn’t in the coding trenches, but his work is vital to our team. We’re spotlighting Paul, our Legal Assistant and Operations Guru.

🏗️ While our engineers and PMs are hard at work developing healthcare solutions, Paul keeps our foundation rock-solid. Need the office AC repaired? Paul’s on it. Ensuring our AppleCare subscriptions are up-to-date? He’s got that covered. Setting up our office with wireless and smart locks? He did it before you had to ask.

⚖️ Let’s not forget Paul’s knack for navigating regulations — crucial for a healthcare company like ours. His passion for laws is a tremendous asset, helping us stay compliant and secure as we grow.

👏 Paul’s attention to the internal details keeps us running smoothly. His efforts mean our team can focus on creating the innovative solutions our clients rely on.

Thank you, Paul, for all the legwork. Your behind-the-scenes efforts don’t go unnoticed, and we couldn’t do without you!

As of July 31, OneBlood, which provides blood to over 250 hospitals in the Southeast, is struggling with a ‘significantly reduced capacity’ following a ransomware attack.

OneBlood is calling for eligible donors to come forward. Blood centers nationwide are stepping in to help, but they need more support to get through this.

This attack shows just how vulnerable our healthcare system is to cyber threats. Morality of the attackers aside, it points to an urgent need to develop better protection for our most critical institutions. OneBlood is relying on manual processes at the moment, but this approach is prone to human errors that can endanger lives.

What can be done?

Healthcare organizations must strengthen their defenses with up-to-date encryption, threat detection, and staff training on cyber threats.

Partnerships between healthcare providers, cybersecurity experts, and government agencies will improve our crisis responses.

If you’re able to donate blood, please do so as soon as possible. And let’s take this moment to reflect on the need for stronger defenses to protect our healthcare system.

Today’s Vitamin Software Silent Hero is our business advisor, Paul Sullivan. His guidance helps us achieve our main mission — reliability, both to ourselves and our clients.

🤝 Paul works closely with our leadership team. His advice is informed by 25 years of guiding businesses, and it helped us grow while maintaining our core values.

🚀 In his mission to help founders become better leaders, Paul became a trusted advisor to our CEO and a member of our Advisory Board. He even flew in from Canada to get hands-on experience with Vitamin as a company. How’s that for dedication?

🔍 Reliability means no surprises, and Paul’s been instrumental in achieving that. He offers insights into good business decisions, from handling dissatisfied customers to delegating tasks. You can’t learn this in guidebooks, so we’re happy to have him.

Kudos to Paul, and here’s to another successful venture!

⚖️ Is your tech partner a true asset or just another dependency? ⚖️

93% of physicians see the value in digital tools, and the acceptance rate will only grow. You need the right tech partner to meet this demand and turn even those ‘impossible’ ideas into successful products, just like we did with a pharmacy management app for 1500 locations. But not all partnerships bring equal value - and we firmly believe that healthcare companies need better tech partners.

Discover if you need a healthcare software development consultant or vendor. Learn about their benefits, drawbacks, and ways to maximize the relationship.

The latest Silent Hero of the Vitamin team is Diana, one of our exceptional recruiters. She’s a great culture fit, integrating into our team and playing a key role in expanding our talent pool with individuals who truly understand and embrace our mission.

🏢 As a super-reliable person herself, Diana ensures that her recruits also embody this core value of our company. Each interview has her taking comprehensive notes on comprehensive team members, ensuring we understand each candidate’s strengths and fit within our team.

⚡ ️ Timeliness is another one of our values, and Diana supported it in a key moment. She has secured a signed offer in less than three weeks, keeping our projects on track and ensuring we have the right talent when we need it.

📝 Diana has been supporting our journey of improvement since day one. She takes accountability for her performance — which we greatly appreciate — but is also eager to suggest improvements to our recruitment process — which we appreciate just as much.

Join us in celebrating Diana and her outstanding contributions! 👏👏👏

In healthcare tech, it’s a priority that your engineers and executives understand each other. Your outcomes, reputation, and bottom line depend on it.

Our latest blog discusses the ways to bridge the business and engineering language gap. Here’s how we do it at Vitamin Software:

🎯Specificity. You don’t want to ‘improve system performance.’ You want to speed up EHR retrieval by 20% in three months.

📏Measurability. Executives and engineers see eye-to-eye on numbers. Set KPIs like revenue increase and system uptime to help them visualize success.

🟰 Alignment. Don’t take up challenges that don’t contribute to your company’s mission and vision.

🔁Regularity. Introduce regular Vitamin Sanity Checks into your MO for the best results.

⏳Timeliness. Deadlines kickstart productivity, so set and respect them. Celebrate milestones and keep moving.

The biggest mistake you can make when creating a new product or service is solving a problem nobody actually struggles with.

Multiple screens, advanced search capabilities, and smooth reporting tools that don’t facilitate workflows are a waste of good technology. They impress stakeholders, sure, but those expensive engineering hours could go toward something more valuable — solving real problems in healthcare.

- Do you know what doctors, nurses, and administrators need from software? Consult healthcare workers to learn what supports (and what complicates) their workflows.

- Do the features you’re developing match the needs you’ve discovered? Each project health check should include a section where you evaluate progress against these user-specific requirements.

- Does the software require guidance to navigate? If not, you need to rethink it. Healthcare moves fast, and complicated UI won’t cut it. Instead, keep the interface simple and hide extra features under the hood.

Security is a pillar of our work in the healthcare industry, and it wouldn’t be possible without our incredible team members. Today, our Silent Hero spotlight shines on Silvia, our cybersecurity specialist, who works behind the scenes to maintain our SOC2 compliance.

🔍 Silvia monitors our systems, identifies vulnerabilities, and implements security measures to protect our data. She ensures our software development processes meet the highest security and compliance standards.

🔒Through risk assessments and good record-keeping, Silvia keeps us ahead of potential threats. She’s always reviewing and revamping our security measures to keep them watertight.

🤝 It’s on Silvia to confirm old and new employees know their role in maintaining compliance. She performs security onboarding for new employees, and we all go to her with questions and concerns about security.

Let’s give Silvia a round of applause for her contribution to Vitamin’s stability and success!
