If your walking around Merlefest this weekend at Wilkes Community College and happen to see one of these new green or white PEDS, take a closer look. These PEDS house the fiber optic backbone that provides connectivity to all functional networks that make Merlefest happen, from the music/artist network to the vendors POS systems.

Interconnect designed and implemented this system to replace the old fiber optical network that was damaged by the flood waters of Hurricane Helene. These PEDs are flood proof, as the water rises against them, air is trapped inside and a foam float located inside rises and creates a sealed air pocked so the fiber terminations inside stay dry.

Seimons X2 IP67 rated ruggedized LC fiber connectors we're added on top of each PED to allow connection to the fibers without having to remove the cover.

If you are interested in working in the communications/technology industry this position will give you the ability to be hands on with tomorrows cutting edge technology. Learn skills such as Fiber Optic installation, termination and testing. Cat6 and Cat6A cable plant installation and testing. Design and implementation of IP based access control and security camera networks.
All applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a current NC drivers licenses. All applicants are subject to background check and random drug test.

Pay ranges from $15/hr for no expereince to $25/hr highly skilled. Full benefits, per diem, all tools supplied, all travel cost covered.
