Tyler and Jason were on hand this morning at the Chamber’s monthly Sunrise Scrambler, hosted and led by Kansas Leadership Center.

Jason Bosch, Ed.D. spoke about tackling the toughest business challenges. As we all know, it can be easy to get caught up in everything that’s going on, and to come up with a ‘quick fix’ that works temporarily while we’re juggling everything on our plates but ultimately doesn’t solve the underlying issue.

This talk was a great reminder that while they’re more work, deep dives to truly understand an organizational or employee morale issue provide more sustainable solutions. Making that effort, recognizing failures, and finding and adapting solutions to keep up with changing times shows that you value the people that contribute to the long-term success of your business.

The post office will be closed on Monday, October 12th in observation of National Indigenous Peoples Day and Columbus Day, but Broadstroke will be open and printing, sorting, and picking up mail (along with all the other things we do!) for our customers.

Who’s ready for puck drop?

The Wichita Thunder start their season ten days from now, but there’s a lot of prep work that goes into getting INTRUST Bank Arena ready to welcome players, coaches, and fans for opening night next Saturday, October 17th!

One of the most noticeable parts of the work is prepping the rink and the boards around it. The Thunder installed advertising dashers on the boards (including ours!) and then our team was out earlier this week to install a rink wrap on the glass above the boards.

It’s always fun to be a part of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into getting gameday ready, and we’re excited for the season to get underway!

Meet Micaela! Micaela is one of Broadstroke’s graphic designers on staff, and she is responsible not just for pre-press checks on files we receive from customers but also creating original artwork when they need it – and when we need it too!

Original artwork and concepts are some of Micaela’s favorite projects to work on, and she’s created everything from business cards to menus to magazines to original t-shirt designs over the years.

Make sure the font you want is the font we print!

Did you know that characters can vary widely across different font types? Check out all the different ways an ampersand looks in this image!

If you use common or standard fonts, odds are it will populate when we do pre-press checks on your artwork. But if you have a special font as part of your brand standards or use something unusual in your artwork, it may not populate correctly, and a font substitution could occur.

You can avoid font substitutions by outlining or packaging your fonts (or having a graphic designer do it for you!) before sending your pdf file to Broadstroke. It’s pretty easy to do, and it ensures the font that gets printed is exactly what you want it to be.
