Stuck at three clients? It is almost always one of these five.

Bethany and Landon Langston have watched hundreds of new trainers try to grow. The pattern repeats.

You screened your list in your head. You decided who is too busy, too broke, too "not a gym person," and never sent them anything. You are wrong about roughly half of them, and you will never find out which half. The fix: write the name down anyway and let them tell you no.

You are building instead of asking. The logo, the website, the business page, the perfect package tiers. All of it is easier than sending one text, which is exactly why you are doing it. The fix: a free session and a price. That is your whole launch kit.

You sent one message and called it outreach. No reply is not a no. It is a Tuesday. Most yeses land on the second or third touch, and almost nobody gets there because nobody scheduled it. The fix: log the send and set the next contact date in the same minute.

You ask for referrals at random. Asking cold feels like begging. Asking 60 seconds after a client hits a PR feels like an invitation, because they are already proud of what you built together. The fix: tie the ask to a specific win and name the result out loud.

You started a business page instead of a conversation. A new page with 40 followers reaches nobody. Your personal profile already reaches the exact people on your warm list. The fix: post proof where you are already active, set up a free Google Business Profile once, then get back to conversations.

Every one of these is fixed by the same thing. Sending the messages. The trainers who fill their schedule fastest are not better marketers. They are the ones who hit send.
Which one is you? Tell us the number in the comments and we will tell you exactly what to do this week.

Do not rent a table. Run the 5K.

Most trainers work events the same way. Pay for a booth, hang a banner, stack business cards on a table, stand behind it for four hours, go home with nothing. Bethany and Landon Langston teach the opposite approach.

Show up as a participant, not a vendor. People walk past vendors. They talk to the person running next to them. Race, play, join the league, and the conversations happen on their own.
Go where your prospects already gather. 5K races. Rec leagues. Pickleball courts. Running shops. Sporting goods stores. Charity walks. Pick the ones you would genuinely enjoy. That is not a soft criterion. It is what makes the conversation real.

If you do want a booth, ask a local shop to host you. Your running store or sporting goods shop wants foot traffic too. Offer a free fitness Q and A or a movement screen. No cost to them, no pitch to their customers. One booth in month two is enough. This supplements your warm list. It never replaces it.

Bring one piece of paper. Your free assessment offer in plain language, an expiry inside the week, and a client result or two if you have them yet. Urgency is kindness. It forces a decision.

Here is the part most trainers get backwards. You take their number. Not the other way round. Approach people, ask what they are training for, get their contact into your tracker. A stack of your business cards on a table is not a lead list.

Then follow up within 24 hours. Every single contact. Never wait for them to reach out. They will not, and it is not because they were not interested.

Book one event this month. Not five. One, worked properly.

Your offer takes 30 minutes. Not a funnel. Not a landing page. One free session and one paid package.

Bethany and Landon Langston have watched trainers spend a month building an offer instead of making one. The trainers who fill up do the opposite. They set it today and offer it tomorrow.

The free part is a 30 minute assessment plus a first session. That removes every reason to say no. You are not discounting your work. You are showing it.

Run it the same way every time. Goal talk about what they actually want. A quick movement screen. A real workout, not a demo. A debrief covering what you saw and what comes next.

Then pick ONE paid option. A four session pack is low commitment and an easy yes. A first month rate is better if you want habit instead of a trial. Pick one, write the price down today, before you close this app.

Present the package at the end of the session. Not in a follow up email. Not with "let me send you some options." You present while they are still catching their breath and feeling what a real session feels like. If they say not right now, ask to keep them on your list and set the check back date before you move on.

Then 48 hours. That is your window to book every yes. Offer two specific time slots, never "when works for you." Enthusiasm has a short shelf life.

The whole offer fits on one line. If it does not, it is too complicated to sell.

Two hours with a blank sheet outperforms two months of content.

Before a trainer builds a website, films a reel, or runs an ad, they write 50 names. Bethany and Landon Langston hand every new trainer at Optimal Performance the same three worksheets on day one, and nothing else moves until they are full.

List one is everyone you train now, expanded outward. For each current client, write their spouse, their adult family, their workplace, the activities they do, and the people they have mentioned to you. One good client is rarely one name. It is five.

List two is 25 people you know. Family, friends, old coworkers, teammates, neighbors. No screening. Do not sit there deciding who can afford it or who is not a gym person, because you are wrong about half of them. Every name gets a phone number and an email. A name you cannot reach is not on the list.

List three is ten local businesses. Physical therapy and chiropractic offices first, because post rehab referrals convert better than anything else you will try. Then doctors and professional offices, schools and local teams, athletic and running stores. Write your contact and the decision maker whenever you know both.

Two routing rules keep it clean. A client's family member or friend gets their own row on list two with the client's name in referred by. Anyone's workplace gets its own row on list three, because that is a partnership, not a person.

Launch target: 50 plus names across lists one and two, 10 plus businesses on list three.

Fill the lists today. Send tomorrow.
