When Boeing scales production in Wichita, every supplier in Kansas feels it in their network first.

Boeing's $1 billion investment in Wichita over the next three years signals a new pace of aerospace production. That pace runs on real-time connectivity across plants, suppliers, systems, and teams. When the network slows, the line slows, and downtime gets expensive fast.

Kansas Fiber Network (KFN) partners with manufacturers across the state to keep operations running. Fiber built for uptime, and local support that answers when it matters.

If you're scaling production in Kansas, let's talk about what your network needs to support it.

If you missed this one, it's worth the read.

KFN's CFO and Interim CEO Terry Talken wrote about what separates providers that sell capacity from partners that deliver certainty. The short version: there's no shortcut. Infrastructure leadership comes from years of disciplined building, not a single product launch or press release.

Terry explains how KFN's approach to growth, where every route earns its way in, has positioned our network for the AI-driven workloads now reshaping enterprise connectivity.

Resilience strategies often focus on detection and response.

The underlying transport layer plays a quiet but essential role in continuity.

When fiber paths are shared or failover plans are unclear, operational recovery can become more complex than anticipated.

Enterprise continuity planning frequently includes:
• Diverse physical routes
• Dedicated transport
• Clearly defined failover paths
• Local escalation support

Your internet worked fine two years ago. Now it doesn't. That's not a coincidence.

Cloud platforms, VoIP, remote workers, and multi-site operations all pull bandwidth in ways that shared broadband wasn't built to handle. The symptoms show up as application slowdowns and dropped calls. The cause is shared capacity.

If that pattern sounds familiar, this is worth reading: https://ksfiber.net/enterprise-dedicated-internet-access/

Lightedge just added 3MW of data center capacity in Kansas City. The harder question: can the network keep pace?

New facility space moves fast. Network infrastructure often doesn't. When connectivity lags, turn-up timelines stretch, uptime risk climbs, and revenue-generating operations wait.

Kansas Fiber Network (KFN) provides dedicated fiber connectivity, route diversity, and local engineering support built for the Kansas City market, so data center operators can bring new capacity online without the network becoming the bottleneck.

Kansas has attracted $21.5B in private investment and 72,000 jobs since 2019. Site selection still treats connectivity as the last conversation.

This Expansion Solutions feature looks at the wave of new Kansas plants, logistics hubs, and bioscience facilities driving that growth: https://www.expansionsolutionsmagazine.com/kansas-is-central-to-private-sector-success-in-manufacturing/

Labor, incentives, and supply chain access lead most site decisions. Connectivity is often the last item on the list.

When bandwidth, latency, and redundancy trail construction, ramp-up slows and automation cannot fully scale.

KFN's Kansas-built fiber, Ethernet and DIA, diverse routes, and local NOC teams turn new sites into reliable, always-on operations from day one.

By Kansas Commerce As the push to reshore U.S. manufacturing continues to increase, Kansas is perfectly positioned to help companies of all sizes succeed. Kansas’ central location in the middle of the country is just one of many factors driving corporate decisions to locate here. An outstanding mu...

Security investments are only part of resilience planning.

Transport architecture plays an equally important role in continuity.

If fiber routes lack diversity or failover is undefined, recovery may take longer than expected.

Enterprise resilience planning typically includes:
• Dedicated fiber paths
• Defined failover architecture
• 24/7 monitoring
• Measurable uptime commitments

KFN delivers fiber infrastructure engineered to support organizations that require predictable performance during disruption.

Most businesses don't know the difference between broadband and dedicated internet until the broadband stops working.

By then, the VoIP calls are dropping, the cloud apps are crawling, and IT is troubleshooting hardware that isn't actually the problem.

Dedicated internet access (DIA) gives your organization a private fiber connection with symmetrical speeds, guaranteed bandwidth, and an SLA that defines exactly what happens if performance falls short. Shared broadband gives you none of that.

We put together a guide for Kansas businesses on what DIA is, when you actually need it, and what to look for when evaluating providers.

Migration projects place sustained pressure on infrastructure.

They tend to reveal where architecture performs reliably and where additional resilience may be needed.

If shared circuits limit throughput or failover paths are unclear, timelines can extend and troubleshooting increases.

Before accelerating cloud adoption, enterprise teams often evaluate whether connectivity supports:
• Multi-site data flow
• Secure, private transport
• Redundant regional routing

KFN’s fiber infrastructure gives Midwest enterprises greater clarity and control as migration strategies evolve.

E-Rate funding is approved. The fiber still isn’t in. It’s only getting more complicated, especially as districts rely more on connectivity for day-to-day instruction.

Most schools are eligible. That part usually isn’t the issue.

What tends to slow things down is everything around it. The application window, the documentation, and making sure nothing falls through between funding approval and network delivery.

If you are heading into the next cycle, this overview from the Federal Communications Commission is worth a look: https://fcc.gov/general/universal-service

We see districts pause or rethink projects every year because of timing and process confusion. KFN supports E-Rate eligible fiber and internet for schools and libraries, with local teams that help keep projects on track and networks performing when it matters.

Universal service is the principle that all Americans should have access to communications services. Universal service is also the name of a fund and the category of FCC programs and policies to implement this principle. Universal service is a cornerstone of the law that established the FCC, the Com...
