Well that's just rude. The meteor people aren't hurting anybody. Why mess with them?

When we talk about noone being "too small or obscure to bother with" anymore, this is exactly the sort of thing we mean. Cybersecurity is important for every organization, big or small.

A website used around the world for reporting meteors faces weeks of downtime as the organization moves away from systems that were hacked recently.

Avast, me hearties! The White House is essentially giving out Letters of Marque to private companies to do some international hacking... Yarr!

The practice would align the United States more closely with countries like China and Russia, where spy agencies have long relied on private-sector hackers to help with national security missions.

This one's for our small town/county government friends - Keep a careful eye out! There's been a rash of cyberattacks on small communities lately that goes beyond the water systems attacks we've all been hearing about. Being "too small to bother with" doesn't seem to be a thing anymore! Places like Coweta, Oklahoma, Mitchell, South Dakota, and Coryell County, Texas have been targeted. Please keep watch for anything weird in your systems, and if you need help, or want to to bulk up your defenses- call us. We have experience in public sector IT and cybersecurity, and are here to assist.

Municipalities in California, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Texas are all recovering from disruptive cyberattacks that have affected government operations.

Would you like to play a game?

Researchers were able to get AI browsers to hand over user credentials by including commands in a game on a webpage. Dubbed BioShocking, after a game where a brainwashed character will obey if their trigger phrase "Would you kindly?" is used, it is a form of prompt injection. It works because the AI agent sees both your commands and the content of the webpage as a single group of text, and can't always tell the difference.

I know that seems like a really obvious thing, right? Don't forget, criminals are *really REALLY good* at manipulating people to do what they want. Just keep it in the back of your mind that this is a thing that happens (a LOT) and to not fall for it. Allright? Allright.

🚨INDUSTRY ALERT🚨
The Silent Ransom Group (SRG), also known as Luna Moth, Chatty Spider, and UNC3753, is targeting law firms using social engineering techniques. Through phone calls and phishing emails, SRG actors pose as IT support to establish access to victim computers and exfiltrate data, usually through legitimate remote access tools or by sending an individual in-person to the victim company’s location to gain physical access to computers. While SRG has victimized companies in many sectors including those in the insurance, finance, and healthcare industries, the group has consistently targeted US-based law firms since Spring 2023.
