So being one of the few hand bookbinderies now in the world, you cannot just easily go out and buy the appropriate bookbinding tools as easily. However having done it as long as we have, we sometimes simply just make our own custom tools and bookbinding devices like this book clamp and spine art device.

Now here's the thing! Modern Day was 1895, when the books were first published. At Turul Bookbindery Inc., we love restoration projects like this!

Well a while back we showed you our lead repair person tackling a book that was truly "bad to the bone". That's because someone's dog ate it. Like most things of course the dog wouldn't eat garbage. He ate an irreplaceable Bible that our client had since he was a young boy. Proud to say we were able to repair or replace pages and create a new leather cover for it. But to add that sentimental touch his original cover was spared and mounted on the new durable leather cover. Take a look at what can be done for your books!

On Purple Heart Day, we honor the warriors who were injured or gave their lives for our country. There would be no America without them. May God bless all our brave men and women in uniform, and all who came before them who sacrificed so much to keep us free.

Many times in a restoration of a book and pages are very delicate and old, every single page may have a tear and all of these must be repaired prior to the resewing of the text block. Many times such a process could take 6-8 hours of hand work.
Following page repair , at times we may not use a traditional sewing frame. Resewing of the text block has begun, after repair of the pages. Love for this type of work is definitely a must.
