Your body doesn't have to hurt before you start taking care of it. Kiva InMotion is built around a proactive approach to movement helping active adults work on mobility, strength, and control before stiffness or limitations start getting in the way. Your shoulders work hard when you reach, lift, swing, serve, play, and train. So don't wait until something hurts to give them attention.

Your shoulders are involved in much more than lifting weights. Reaching overhead. Carrying luggage. Serving a tennis ball. Playing pickleball. Swinging a golf club. Even getting dressed. When stiffness or discomfort starts getting in the way, it's worth paying attention to how you're moving not simply pushing through it.
Kiva's mobile app offers expert-guided movement routines to help you work on mobility, strength, and control as part of your regular routine. Your shoulders do a lot. Give them the movement they need. Reach out to Kiva and keep moving toward the activities you love.

Stretching can be useful but shoulder mobility isn't simply about how far you can move. Your shoulder needs to move through range and control that range. That means a good movement routine may involve more than stretching. Depending on the individual, it can include mobility work, strengthening, coordination, and controlled movement. So if your shoulder feels stiff, don't automatically assume you just need to stretch harder.
Better movement starts with understanding what your shoulder actually needs.

Shoulder discomfort can have many possible contributors. Sometimes the issue isn't simply that the shoulder is “tight.” It may relate to things such as:
→ A sudden increase in activity
→ Repetitive overhead movements
→ Strength or capacity that hasn't caught up with the demands you're placing on it
→ Changes in mobility
→ Previous injury
→ How the shoulder and surrounding areas work together

That's why the answer isn't always “stretch more.”

The better question is: What is your shoulder being asked to do and is it prepared for that demand? That's where a movement-focused approach can make a difference.

Pain around the sacroiliac joint can make you want to stop moving but complete rest isn't always the answer. Start by paying attention to what aggravates your symptoms, keep movement gentle and comfortable, and gradually work back toward the activities you enjoy. If pain is persistent, worsening, or limiting your daily activities, get assessed by a qualified healthcare professional before pushing through it.

At Kiva InMotion, the focus is simple: understand your movement, build capacity, and keep doing what you love. Move with purpose. Move with confidence.

When it comes to the SI joint, it's easy to focus on one small area. But your body doesn't move in isolated parts.

Your spine, pelvis, hips, and surrounding muscles all work together during everyday movement. That’s why a movement-focused approach can be more useful than simply trying to “fix” one spot.

The goal? Build strength. Improve movement. Stay active.

When someone develops pain around the SI joint or lower back, the question isn't always: “What movement caused it?” It can also be: “What changed?”
Maybe they suddenly increased their running volume. Started playing pickleball three times a week. Added heavier strength training. Returned to golf after months away. Or simply became less active and then tried to do everything at once. Understanding changes in load, frequency, intensity, and recovery can provide important context.

Train the capacity. Respect the recovery. Build gradually.

The sacroiliac (SI) joints sit where your spine meets your pelvis. When the area is irritated, discomfort may be felt around the lower back, buttock, or pelvis and it can sometimes be difficult to tell exactly where the pain is coming from. Not every case of low-back or buttock pain is SI joint pain, though.

If you're dealing with persistent or recurring pain, getting an appropriate assessment is an important first step. Know the area. Understand the movement. Then work on what your body needs.
