I received my BS in Engineering in 1992. After university, I worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and LA County Public Works for several years. As a side business to make a little extra income, I sta

Eventually the computer business became so busy that I faced the decision to continue with a safe career as a civil servant or take the uncertain path of entrepreneurship. In 1996 computers were really taking off, especially with the release of Microsoft Windows 95, so I took the leap started AXICOM in 1996. My mission was to help businesses understand technology and implement computers to make their business more efficient and profitable. Over 25 years later and that is still my goal.

PC prices have declined every year going back to the mid-1980s until 2026. Now prices are climbing due to RAM shortages caused by Ai data center demand.

AI's hunger for memory chips is starving the consumer market, and shoppers are about to pay the price in ways that go far beyond the sticker on a new laptop.

Preparing for back to school goes smoothly when families adjust sleep routines, organize supplies, and prep meals ahead of time. Starting these habits early reduces stress for both parents and kids.

Sleep and Daily Routines:
Shift bedtimes and wake times 15 to 20 minutes earlier every few days starting a few weeks before school begins.
Limit screen time during the final hour before bed to help the body relax.
Practice morning routines a few days prior so kids remember how to get dressed, brush teeth, and eat on a timeline.

Organization and Supplies
Check leftover school supplies from previous years before buying new items.
Lay out clothes, pack backpacks, and fill water bottles the night before to save time.
Schedule any required annual checkups, sports physicals, or vaccine updates with your doctor early.

Meals and Snacks
Set up a lunch-packing station in the fridge or pantry with grab-and-go options like fruit, cheese sticks, and whole grain crackers.
Prep simple after-school snacks ahead of time so hungry kids have healthy choices ready.
Plan easy, fast dinners for busy weeknights to keep evening stress low.

High heat warning. As temperatures remain high, be sure you are prepared with plenty of fluids, and sunscreen if you are going outside.

Also, take care with your computers that can overheat. Keep a fan circulating air if your computers are left on.
High heat causes computers to slow down, crash, and suffer permanent hardware damage.

Key signs of heat stress include loud fan noise, sudden shutdowns, and sluggish performance.
Common Causes of Overheating
Dust and Clutter: Dirt blocks vents and stops fans from spinning well.
Poor Placement: Putting laptops on soft beds or couches traps heat.
High Workload: Running heavy games or many apps forces the CPU and GPU to work too hard.
Hot Rooms: High room temperatures or direct sun make it hard for air systems to cool the PC.

Easy Ways to Cool Your Computer
Clean It Out: Use compressed air to blow dust out of vents and fans every few months.
Use Hard Surfaces: Keep laptops on flat, hard desks so air can flow underneath.
Elevate the Device: Use a laptop stand or cooling pad to help lower temperatures.
Close Extra Apps: Shut down programs and browser tabs you are not using
