Most of the time in our lives, we get chance after chance to change, redo, make it right, etc. But MANY of our soldiers, then and now, gave the most, the best, their last chance, for the rest of us. For something they truly believed in, and worked for and sometimes died for. My dad was in the Army, my brother was in the Army, and I served overseas myself. I have the GREATEST respect, trust, pride and love for every one of our soldiers. If you never served, you should. And you would understand that it is NOT easy. Away from home, many, many hours of training to become excellent at what you do. The best training and equipment. But your life is ALWAYS on a line. And sometimes it does not go well. God Bless EVERY soldier, sailor, airman and Marine, past, present and future. Never forgotten. I love you brother.

So, if you ever had a pet that lived to be 80 years old, you sorta get attached. Our mascot, Bobby the Cat, was 16 yrs old (80 yrs in human) (I bet women wish they could use that formula), Bobby has moved on up there to a much bigger job. He got slower, tired more easy, and slept a lot. He still loved his treats, and going out into the big yard, to wander and watch his domain. I cut and raked it, but it really was his yard. I continue to watch for him hiding in the closet, or under the bed, or sleeping on my pillow EVERY night. But I know he is in a happy place, with many of his predecessors. They will make a awesome gang. Sleep well Mooshie......you deserve it. Good times make for great memories. RIP Bobby.

So we have been deeper into the tariff wars recently, and I dont think we have seen any horrible damages, in our stores, or on the car lots, etc ..... YET. Maybe price increases, but not so much empty shelves..... YET. But companies plan ahead, for supplies, parts and product orders. And for work schedules, in manufacturing and service schedules...... and in our work schedules. Several companies we work with have eliminated 3d shifts. Some have cut out overtime. And several friends have been looking for jobs, have put in many applications and even had a few interviews. But..... no jobs, or even job offers. And phone companies, service companies like pest control, yard care companies, etc. are wanting us to sign contracts. With one or even two year agreements. I HATE what tariffs are doing to Chinese workers, and others. But I know that the abuse their government was supporting, abuse Americans were paying for, added to the disintegrating economies of most countries, including the US, those actions had to be taken. Fast, hard and difficult actions. We, the people do not control those actions. But we, the people better stop wasting our money, our savings and our credit, on 'extra' things. A new car? A bigger home? Really nice vacations? We should be stocking up on home supplies, food, medications that we need, the things that would make a difference. I am just saying, I have seen several friends and neighbors spend money on things that could have been delayed for a while. Until things settled down, or even got better. Please consider ALL the spending you make. The future is unknown. I am not a doom and gloom person. But I AM careful. Take care.

So, we have been servicing appliances and electronics for over 30 years, in the insurance side of our business. I have watched how washer and dryer companies come and go. I recommend people get a reasonable price machine with only the features they NEED. And stay with a name-brand, not a wannabe. brand. Recently, I have been upset at the Maytag brand, one I used to recommend a lot. They have lowered the quality of their products far below the standards acceptable. They own Amana, and now are about to lay off over 600 workers in Iowa. They have printed board issues, parts failures, inventory problems and cannot find a reliable manufacturer. So..... I am left with only Whirlpool as a recommendation for a low cost, pretty reliable washer and dryer maker. But,. they have some issues also to be sure. Parts are still available, and they seem to last. If you want a better quality, reasonable, but a little more $$, look at Samsung. Good washer and dryers, but stay away from the new Linear compressors in the new refrigerators. As is often the case, do your homework and research. Watch for sales. And keep what you have for as long as possible. The marketing is a lie. You wont be pretty, healthier, live longer or be taller, because you bought a new appliance.

So, if you're going to watch reruns of the Walking Dead, Star Trek or Housewives, or.....whatever, you need a good TV, and maybe a sound bar, and maybe a laptop to stream the shows...... and beer.... lots of beer. Cause if you're sober, and you start to believe in Zombies, or women with puffy lips, or .... heaven forbid.....the crap politicians say....... I believe life is over for you. Get ready for summer folks.

OK, so it is New Years Eve. If you are gonna go out and drink, two things......
1. Do NOT drive. It makes you look dumb, not cool.
2. Stay away from my family. I am getting older and may need them to pay for stuff some day.

“Happy New Year.... you filthy animals” (a line from the 1992 movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York).

If you know me, I am not one to complain. However, I just left my York PA Home Depot and I have never been more disappointed in that store in 40 years of shopping there. I just went to buy 250. in lumber and screws to replace one of my lower decks. Just 5/4x6x12' boards. The site says they have over 260 in stock. No problems, right? Nope. Got there, found few crappy boards on shelf. Big pallet of nicer ones on top. Asked 3 different HD workers to move them down. Three. Never saw first two again. Third one called a guy who pulled down a partial stack of old boards, and left. This is the worst lumber I have EVER seen. Warped, cracked, knot holes big as a baseball. In every one. Two cracked in two when I picked them up. Mind you, this is for a deck, around a pool. And at $9. a board ! Horrible. And the service is no better. These were older guys, not kids. They know stuff. Got their own tape measures and all. I am not mad. Crap happens. But I dont get much extra time to do my own stuff. And I wasted hours waiting, and then just walked out. I am not making this up. Service and quality have hit the dirt. Never expected this from Home Depot. Maybe I give Lowes a try now.

So, with the many issues and changes in the economy, etc. DIAL Electronics has changed our business model. We lost some of our coworkers too. Mark Smith, one of the most talented technicians I have ever worked with, left to start his own business. He will do fantastic. Mike Cool left to take care of family, and this was a technician that was not afraid to work on ANYTHING. And recently, we lost Jim Shirmer, in our Baltimore office. What a history Jim had. Wonderful customer service, loads of experiences to share. He had some medical issues and is now in a better place, probably helping better customers. We moved, and reduced our office/shop. We now do most of our work on commercial, industrial, medical equipment onsite and our insurance related services are still going very strong. More traveling, but we are fine with that. If honesty and fair pricing is important, we are ALWAYS gonna do a great job. And with Christmas just a month away, and snow already in the forecast, we think it is gonna be a very busy holiday for all of us. For our walkin customers, sorry we cannot maintain a storefront anymore, but if you call and leave a number, we WILL call you and help if we can. For nearly 30 years, DIAL Electronics has helped. And we dont see that changing any time soon. Thank you. Be safe out there,. and have a great holiday season.

Did you ever consider that life may just be random? That beautiful things pass through your life often, but you might just miss one or two, they go past you, and others are coming. That no matter how we plan, and save and hope, that we just don't control what happens? And think, for a minute, the amazing things that you still may discover. IF you watch for them. They may be small, simple, or fleeting. Stop worrying about the things you miss. Find your peace in the simple, small things that sometimes are right in front of you.
