⚠️ Severe Weather Safety Reminder ⚠️
Severe weather can develop quickly, especially in the Ohio Valley. It’s important for everyone to stay aware of changing weather conditions and take all watches and warnings seriously.
A Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for dangerous storms to develop. This is the time to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and be ready to act quickly if conditions worsen.
A Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Warning means dangerous weather is happening or about to happen in your area. When a warning is issued, do not wait or ignore it. Seek shelter immediately in a sturdy building, away from windows, preferably in an interior room on the lowest floor.
Many injuries and fatalities occur because warnings are ignored or people wait too long to react. Have multiple ways to receive alerts, including weather apps, NOAA weather radios, and local alerts.
Severe weather may only last a few minutes, but taking warnings seriously can save your life and the lives of others. Stay aware, stay prepared, and always respect the power of severe weather.
