Enrique Parisca, Dreyfoos Musical Theatre Class of 2027, spent six weeks this summer at Carnegie Mellon University’s Pre-College Drama Program, immersing himself in the rigorous training and creative community of one of the country’s leading theatre programs.

From acting, singing, and private voice lessons to tap, jazz, ballet, dramaturgy, and acting for the camera, Enrique trained alongside passionate young artists and accomplished theatre professionals. He also participated in a six-week choreography workshop, where he and two fellow students created an original piece and performed it in a showcase.

“The six-week program was intense, academic, and rigorous: exactly what I needed to prepare for college auditions this year!” said Enrique.

Enrique’s experience was made possible with the Simon Benson Offit Summer Institute Scholarship awarded through the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Foundation.

Congratulations, Enrique! Break a leg this audition season!

Did you know we have a darkroom at Dreyfoos School of the Arts?

Our Digital Arts & Photography students have the opportunity to step under the red lights and learn hands-on photographic processes, including developing film photographs, creating cyanotypes and photograms, and experimenting with diptychs and triptychs.

This is just one of the many unique resources Dreyfoos offers students to explore their creativity both digitally and hands-on!

This summer, Isabella Fernandez, Dreyfoos Dance Class of 2027, spent five inspiring weeks in New York City training at The Ailey School’s Professional Division Summer Intensive. Her experience was made possible in part by the Cathy Kraut Lewis Dance Summer Institute Scholarship, awarded through SOAFI’s Scholarship Program.

“This experience was so much more than just dancing every day. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, challenged me in ways I didn’t expect, and helped me grow not only as a dancer but as a person.”

While training at Ailey, Isabella learned from inspiring teachers, connected with dancers from around the world, and immersed herself in New York City’s dance community.

“Being surrounded by so many talented and passionate artists reminded me every day of why I love dance and why I want to continue pursuing it. I learned to trust myself more, work harder, take risks, and appreciate the little moments that happen inside the studio.”

We’re incredibly proud of Isabella and proud that the SOAFI Scholarship Program could help make this transformative summer experience possible.
