With property tax bills hitting West Bend mailboxes this week, we want to make you aware of a recent US Postal Service policy change.

This year, postmarks are being applied at regional sorting centers rather than when mail is first received. This may result in a postmark several days after an envelope is placed in a mailbox.

Because timely payment is based on the USPS postmark, payments mailed too close to the Jan. 31, 2026, deadline may be considered late.

Residents are encouraged to mail payments early or use online or in-person payment options to avoid late fees.
