Sometimes "IT work" involves considerably more equipment than a laptop.

Our techs might spend one day troubleshooting a network and the next operating a lift, running cable, or figuring out how to get technology where it needs to go. Adding new technology to an existing building usually means working with what you've already got.

Walls, doors, ceilings, electrical, existing wiring, and the original construction all become part of the puzzle. That's why installing something as simple as a new device can involve a lot more planning than people see in the finished product. There are some parts of IT work that don't make it into the brochure.

Sometimes getting technology where it needs to go means drilling through a floor, running cable, and making a considerably bigger mess than anyone planned on making that morning. Modern access control can show who has access, when they used it, and whether a door is actually locked or unlocked. It also makes adding or removing someone's access much easier when employees come and go.
