2026 is another record year at Lake Area Tech for the number of Build Dakota Scholarships and Stretch-the-Million industry partnerships in the 12th year of this tremendous scholarship program!

In Cohort 12, Lake Area Tech was pleased to award 166 full-ride scholarships to new, first-year students entering high-demand careers in South Dakota. A Build Dakota Scholarship includes tuition and fees, books, tools, laptop and other items required to complete the program.

Nearly 99% of LATC’s scholars have an industry partner, which means the company pays approximately half of the scholarship while securing a 3-year work commitment with the student. Our industry partners allow us to ‘stretch’ Build Dakota’s dollars to increase the number of students impacted by this life-changing scholarship, plus, they provide excellent employment opportunities for these future graduates.

The next opportunity to apply is January 1 – March 31, 2027 for students starting Fall 2027 or January 2028, and the first step forward is to apply to Lake Area Tech for your program of choice.

LATC Diesel — Day Three

Wednesday was Day Three for our students at LATC Diesel, and we are officially off and running! 🔧🚜

It’s Christmas in August for our first-year students as they open their brand-new tools and get ready to put them to work. 🎄🧰 Meanwhile, our second-year students are already hard at work and diving right into the hands-on learning.

It’s exciting to see the energy, smiles, and hard work happening in the shop. We’re looking forward to a great year ahead! 💪🔩

Welcome to another great year at LATC Diesel!
