Last Friday, ESI’s Robin Appia, Desi Hughes, Desiree Dietz, and Tiffany Willis attended the DC Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the District Conference. 🌟

The conference brought together government, business, and community leaders to discuss the priorities and economic outlook shaping Washington, DC, and the surrounding region.

Throughout the day, panel discussions covered several issues impacting the District, including utility affordability, health care costs and innovation, and the effects of federal policy on DC businesses. Speakers also shared perspectives on regional economic growth and the role sports, entertainment, and hospitality continue to play in the District’s development.

Desiree and Tiffany also volunteered during the conference, helping support the event while engaging with members of the DC Chamber and broader business community. 👏

Our team left with valuable perspectives on the issues shaping the District and appreciated the opportunity to continue building relationships throughout the DC business community.

Together with JAG Global Learning, Team ESI will provide instructional design and learning innovation services to support the development of effective, engaging training for Metro’s specialized workforce.

This award creates an exciting opportunity to bring our expertise to one of the nation’s largest transit organizations and build a strong partnership in support of WMATA TTDV’s mission.

I’m Lakeisha Taylor, a Program Manager and Lead Instructional Systems Designer at ESI! 👋

👥 My role brings together program and team leadership, instructional design, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and a lot of coaching. One of the things I enjoy most is developing people while developing solutions. Seeing an idea become something that helps employees perform their jobs more confidently and safely is incredibly rewarding.

🌟 I’m especially proud of watching our team move several high-visibility, safety-sensitive training initiatives into full course development and client review under aggressive timelines. There were times when everyone had to step outside of their normal lanes, support one another, and push together to get the work across the finish line.

💡 One principle has been especially important to me: I manage processes, procedures, products, and resources, but I lead people. My greatest impact comes from keeping people at the center and creating the structure and support they need to perform at their best.

✈️ When I’m not working, you can usually find me drawn to either the water or the sky.

🛠️ I’ve always considered myself a builder. Whether it’s a team, program, business, process, or opportunity for someone else, I tend to look at what something could become rather than only what it is today.

Today is a bittersweet day at ESI! 🥹 We’re saying a big thank you and fond farewell to our summer interns, Enite Okoro and Kennedi Harris.

This summer, Enite and Kennedi gained hands-on experience supporting software development and testing while also learning more about IT administration and operations. Along the way, they continued developing technical skills that will support them as they pursue their future careers in IT.

Enite and Kennedi were such a pleasure to have as part of . We appreciate the work they contributed this summer and wish them both continued success in everything ahead! 👏🎉

ESI’s Desirea L. Hughes attended the 2026 MESC Conference in Portland, Oregon, connecting with Medicaid leaders and industry professionals from across the country. 🌟

Throughout the conference, discussions explored how technology can better support the people who rely on Medicaid programs. Desi also gained valuable perspective on the connection between policy and technology as states prepare to navigate changes ahead.

Beyond the sessions, MESC created an opportunity to strengthen relationships within the Medicaid community and learn from the experiences of states across the country. 🤝

We’re excited to bring those perspectives back to the work we do in Health IT.

ESI’s Desi Hughes attended the Greater Washington Black Chamber of Commerce President’s Circle Open House in Washington, DC. 🤝

This year’s theme, “Strategic Partnerships for Growth,” focused on the role strong business relationships can play in creating new opportunities. The event also gave attendees a chance to hear from organizations such as Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) about resources available to support continued growth.

One takeaway especially resonated with our team: "organizational growth does not happen in isolation. It is accelerated when the right people, resources, and opportunities come together with a shared purpose.” 🌱
