STAR WARS BROUGHT PODRACING BACK, AND Y'ALL HAVE BEEN GASSING THIS GAME ALL WEEK.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer dropped October 6 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and the reaction has been LOUD. We're talking high-speed arcade racing, podracers, speeder bikes, vehicle upgrades, online competition, and a single-player campaign where crashing out can send you back to the start of your run.

Here's what makes this interesting. Fuse Games was built by veterans of the Burnout series, and you can see that love for fast, chaotic racing all over this game. Critics have been giving it strong reviews, and the whole thing feels like somebody finally remembered how much fun arcade racing is supposed to be.

Some of us grew up on Star Wars Episode I: Racer, so the nostalgia is definitely hitting. But nostalgia can only carry a game so far.

So we need to hear from the people who've actually played it. Is Galactic Racer really THAT good, or is everybody getting caught up in the hype? And is it better than the original Episode I: Racer?

XBOX DONE SHRUNK THE CONTROLLER! 😂🎮

Microsoft just introduced the Xbox Nano Controller, and we ain't gonna lie, this one has our attention! It's just over five inches long, weighs 3.5 ounces, and still has all 18 standard gameplay inputs. It's rechargeable, works with Xbox consoles, PCs, and compatible mobile devices, and comes in at $49.99. Preorders are open now, with a November 4 release date.

Around here at Round 1, we've always preferred PlayStation controllers. Xbox controllers have always felt a little bulky to us, and the PlayStation design just feels more comfortable. So seeing Xbox make something smaller? We're definitely eager to try it out and see if it changes our minds.

Of course, smaller doesn't automatically mean better, especially when you're a few hours deep into Madden 😂 But we love seeing companies give gamers more options.

So let's settle this. Who makes the better controller, Xbox or PlayStation? And would you give the Nano a shot?

U of M Dearborn, we got some serious competition going on over here. Round 1 Gaming Lab is on campus RIGHT NOW for a Mario Kart Tournament, and listen, some of these folks came to have fun, but others came to prove a POINT. Blue shells flying, friendships being tested, somebody getting passed at the finish line, and everybody suddenly becoming a professional race car driver when it's their turn 😂

https://wix.to/Rockstar might have just reminded everybody why GTA soundtracks are LEGENDARY.

New details about GTA VI's radio stations are out, and this lineup is looking ridiculous. We're talking Bad Bunny, Burna Boy, Trick Daddy, Trina, Lana Del Rey, Robyn, and more connected to the game's music programming.

And for the first time, GTA is adding on demand fictional podcasts. You'll even be able to listen to music and podcasts while walking around through your character's phone and headphones.

That's the kind of detail I love about GTA. You can spend hours doing absolutely nothing related to the main story and still feel like you're living in this whole other world. Just cruising around Vice City with the right song playing can become its own experience.

But as a Detroit business, you know we gotta ask the important question. We got way too much musical history in this city for GTA VI not to show us some love. From Motown to techno to hip hop, Detroit has helped shape the soundtrack of entire generations.

If you could personally add ONE Detroit artist or ONE song to the GTA VI soundtrack, what are you choosing?

Gears of War: E Day just gave us one of the most interesting Xbox conversations of the year.

According to estimates from Alinea Analytics, the game sold around 230,000 copies during its early launch period, but approximately 1.7 MILLION people accessed it through Game Pass. And here's the part that makes this even more interesting. An estimated 722,000 Game Pass players also paid for the Premium upgrade.

So did Gears struggle to sell, or did Xbox simply find a different way to make money?

Because think about it. If you're already paying for Game Pass and the game is included in your subscription, why would you turn around and pay full price for it? But on the other hand, if everybody stops buying games outright, what does that mean for developers, budgets, and the future of the industry?

The old rules for measuring a successful video game might not work anymore. Millions of people playing a game sounds successful, but companies still have bills to pay, studios to support, and employees to keep working.

If a game reaches millions of players through a subscription but doesn't sell many individual copies, would YOU consider that game a success?

So we're supposed to believe physical video games are dying, but somebody forgot to tell the people buying Wolverine.

According to estimates from Ampere Analysis, roughly 35% of Marvel's Wolverine sales came from physical copies. That's more than one out of every three buyers choosing to purchase the actual disc instead of downloading the game.

And here's why that's interesting. PlayStation has been moving toward a digital future, but numbers like these suggest there's still a meaningful audience that wants something they can actually hold, collect, lend, trade, or resell.

At Round 1, we have a whole library of physical games, so you already know where we stand. Digital is convenient, absolutely. But convenience shouldn't automatically mean taking away people's options. Especially when we're talking about games people spend $70 or $80 to purchase.

If physical games disappeared tomorrow, would you genuinely be upset, or have you already gone completely digital?

Remember when gaming consoles were supposed to get CHEAPER the longer they were on the market? Yeah, apparently those days are gone.

According to Circana, Xbox hardware sales in the United States are down 33% compared to the same period last year, while PlayStation hardware sales are down 25%. And somehow, while fewer people are buying consoles, the prices keep climbing.

We're talking about a generation where some consoles cost more today than they did years ago. Between the systems, games, controllers, online memberships, and everything else, gaming is becoming one expensive hobby.

And that's before we even start talking about families buying multiple systems for their kids. At some point, companies have to understand that everybody doesn't have $600, $700, or $900 sitting around for a game console.

What's the MOST you'd be willing to spend on a brand new gaming console before you officially say these companies are tripping?

Man, the AI conversation in gaming is about to get REAL interesting.

According to a new report, developers working on an upcoming Epic Games shooter featuring Marvel and Star Wars characters have reportedly been told to embrace an AI first approach. We're talking AI being used for programming, artwork, and other parts of the development process.

Now listen, technology has always been part of gaming. Developers use tools to make their jobs easier all the time. But there's a difference between using AI to help talented people create something and using AI to replace the talented people who make these games worth playing.

We already complain about games feeling unfinished, repetitive, and lacking originality. So imagine a future where even more of the creative work is handed over to machines. I'm not saying AI has no place in gaming, but somebody has to ask where we draw the line.

Would you still pay $70 for a game if you knew a significant portion of its artwork and programming was created using AI?
