3 new Wireless Access Points added.
2 POE ethernet switches.
Unifi Gateway and POE switch and server rack.
830 feet of CAT6 cable ran.

And one new "invention" made.

Customer's 4K Video Doorbell needed to be angled a little more.

So I custom designed and 3D printed a new 30° wedge block for it. (Standard is 15°)

I also emailed the model to Lorex to ask them to start making them injection molded in the future.

If you have ever thought about putting a real security camera system in - please give us a call I would love to at least give you a free quote!

You custom design and 3D print your own custom 1.125" hole plugs for hiding camera cables.

When you're a nerd and at home...

Since we recently got fiber internet, it is much more reliable. So I did some testing.
Here are results in my garage, from my secondary router. On my phone from 2020.

Mesh WiFi is very handy. No cables to run. Easy to setup.
100 MBPS (Gig internet coming into house)

CAT6 unshielded is decent cable, but I think this particular piece I ran might have been questionable. Or too close to a 120V AC wire.
500 MBPS.

CAT6A Shielded is fantastic cable, but not cheap.
Personally, I think its totally worth the extra money.
865 MBPS.

Same phone, within 3" in the exact same location.
Same routers, different cable (Or lack thereof).

This is why I prefer POE cameras.
They just work. All day, every day.

Now on Red Handed Security repertoire...
Window and door alarm sensors!

These Tapo sensors are great! And not expensive or difficult to set up.

Now the smart hub plays a ringtone/alarm if my front door gets left open for more than 2 minutes.
And it notifies me on my phone!

PS, we've done smart light switches and outlets also.

Thank you everyone for a fun weekend!

We got to meet and talk to a bunch of really great people!

We do still do camera systems, and we can travel a mild distance from the Lake Geneva area. We have also done DIY kits, and mixes of a DIY kit that we come in and help wrap up and get everything finished and 100% working and tested.

I had several people talk about the differences between POE (Hardwired) cameras vs WiFi ones and thought this summed it up pretty well:

WiFi cameras usually work. Sometimes they do or don't, but when something is actually happening seems to be when they don't. (Is that a part of Murphy's law?)

Hardwired cameras work - all the time. 99.999% of the time, they have absolutely no problems.

We install the same quality cameras that are installed at grocery stores, gas stations, hardware stores, and banks. Affordably.

Good morning everybody!
We're back at Midwest Horse Fair for one last day.

Just a quick thing to share this morning - an actual Quick Quote given to a potential customer yesterday.
They have a larger property and want to put a couple cameras on the far corner of an 80 acre field to watch their fence lines.
So we quoted giving them a solar-battery-camera station in the back corner of the field. It will communicate back to their barn, with the other 7 cameras, 24/7/365. With a big battery and solar panels, that are built to last and work for YEARS. They're not cheap, but definitely worth the investment.

You'll notice the bottom has a price range. We don't do a firm quote until a site visit happens, but want to give you a good ballpark before a bunch of time is invested into a system for you.
