Eyes to the sky

AURORA ALERT: An Earthbound CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) from a rapidly growing sunspot complex is on the way. NOAA suggests Minor (G1) to Moderate (G2) conditions will be likely when it arrives later this week (October 9th), which could open the window of northern lights potential as early as Thursday night.

It should be noted, this sunspot region is evolving fast and now contains a magnetic structure capable of additional significant solar flares. It's also directly facing Earth. Stay tuned!

If you are interested, let your parents know and have them call 1-800-236-2710 and get registered. Phones are staffed live Monday-Thursday from 10am-5pm. You will need to know the troop number to register. For grades k-1 the troop number is 4217, for 2-3 it is 4086, for 4-5 it is 4278, and for 6-12 it is 4176. If a parent wants to be involved she or he can register when the girl gets registered. The first year is free if you register at the same time as the girl. Have the girl ask her friends as well.
