Tradeshows still work, but the cost of showing up is changing fast.
If your 2024 exhibit budget is still your 2026 exhibit budget, the math is about to catch up with you.
A new industry-wide survey from The Exhibitor Advocate, Tradeshow Logic, and EVOLIO Marketing reveals what many of us have been feeling on the show floor:
Exhibiting costs are rising faster than inflation, and not because of anything exhibitors are doing.
Here are the shifts that stood out:
đ´ Electrical outlet rates up 18.4% â averaging $204.91 for a basic drop.
đ´ Material handling up 9.5% â now $2.28 per pound on average.
đ´ Flooring costs surging â carpet +12.7%, padding +21%, visqueen +22.1%, vacuuming +30%.
đ´ Labor continues to climb â straight time +6.4%, overtime +9.2%.
đ´ And geography matters more than ever:
Exhibiting in New York now costs 75% more than in Atlanta for the same services.
But hereâs the twist:
Despite rising costs, 75% of exhibitors say tradeshows still deliver excellent or good value. The handshake moments, the pipeline acceleration, the inâperson trust â none of that has changed.
What is changing is how exhibitors respond.
The smartest teams are:
âď¸ Rightâsizing footprints
âď¸ Prioritizing shows with measurable ROI
âď¸ Budgeting against current benchmarks, not last yearâs
âď¸ Tracking KPIs like cost per lead and cost per qualified contact
Showing up still matters.
đŁ Showing up smarter matters even more.
Exhibiting costs are rising across labor, material handling, electrical, and flooring, pushing exhibitors to budget smarter and measure results.
