Empowered Pathways: The Union of the Peacemaker Program and WERC
Empowered Pathways is the union of two of our area’s premier non-profit organizations, The Peacemaker Program and the Women’s Employment & Resource Center (WERC). Operating under a new name, both programs retain all of the services the community depends on while adding more.
WERC has been preparing women for work re-entry for almost 30 years and has a sustained history of providing quality-training programs aimed at helping women reenter the workforce. WERC’s training programs not only teach valuable skills but also build self-confidence and effectively address barriers to employment. WERC’s vision is to have all women desiring work, gainfully employed in a job which gives them satisfaction and respect.
The Peacemaker Program, Inc. was established in 1994 to offer mediation and delinquency prevention services in Oneida, Madison and Herkimer Counties. Services include advocacy for children in the middle of volatile custody and visitation disputes, helping severely disabled individuals obtain consent for much-needed medical care, dispute resolution training programs, family mediation services, community mediation services, and targeted pro-social skill programming for at-risk children. The Peacemaker Program has been designated by the New York State Unified Court System as the Community Dispute Resolution Center for Oneida and Madison counties. Through the availability of family and community mediation services, The Peacemaker Program aims to continue its foundational focus on individual empowerment.
Collectively our programs have over 50 years of experience responding to the needs of women, youth, and families in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison Counties. Whether it is employment training, divorce and child custody mediation, or community mediation cases, Empowered Pathways is uniquely qualified to provide support to our clients as they move forward with their lives and create self-directed, peaceful solutions.
