Since the kids went back to school, I've been finding my rhythm again, and one practice that keeps earning its place is free writing.

The idea is simple. Take a blank sheet of paper, write whatever comes to mind, and don't stop until you reach the bottom of the page.

At first it feels daunting. Then somewhere along the way it flips, and by the last few lines I'm the one who has to pull the plug. Some pages get ripped up and tossed. Others hold a moment of clarity, and I stop and sit with it for a bit.

This morning's line felt worth sharing:

Where does that LEAD ME? Rather than "leave me."

Same situation, different question. One looks at what's gone. The other looks at what's next.

Reset. Reframe. September always feels like a reset to me, even though work never actually stopped this summer. I think it goes back to every school year starting right after Labor Day. Old habit, still sticks.

The move is mostly behind us, the kids are back in school, and I've been rebuilding my days on purpose instead of just getting through them. Mornings for myself before the day takes over, Monday mornings blocked off as CEO time instead of whatever's loudest that week, intentional efforts to level up and take the next right step. Sketchbook always at arm's length.

Last week I had a conversation with a client. Key point: if your work isn't seen, it doesn't exist.

That's true for a business, but it's true for the rest of it too. The habits, the effort, the version of yourself you're working to become, none of it counts for much if it never actually shows up anywhere. Still figuring pieces of it out. But the way you run your business and the way you run your life aren't really separate systems.

If your work isn't seen, does it exist? Where does your brand show up the least right now, and is that on purpose or by accident?

I designed the Stoneriver Christian School logo. And there’s nothing quite like watching your branding work go from a screen to a big ‘ol sign crowning their new building. Round of applause to Talley Signs for the incredible craftsmanship bringing the design to life in dimension. I can’t wait to see this one lit up at night!

I literally argued with Starlink's AI chat tool after I got this box and "attempted" to set it up. I was flustered, ready to throw the whole thing in the river. It didn't understand me (blame it on my Southern charm). It kept giving me responses unrelated to my issue. Finally, I sent in a ticket, and I got a call back from Jason, an extremely HELPFUL associate who quickly answered my questions. Lifesaver!

There is something beautifully simple, yet incredibly complex, about our human ability to use DISCERNMENT. My lovely fellow human beings, AI will never replace that ability. I use it in my design, writing, and strategy. Jason used it in his customer service approach. Yes, AI tools speed up our workflow. Don't forget, it is a tool, nothing more. Your human touch sets you apart.

Meet 4 Mo'opunas Alpaca Farm, a family farm in Henrico, Virginia, raising alpacas and selling some truly unique products! Named for their four grandsons with a nod to their time spent in Hawaii ("Mo'opuna" means grandson in Hawaiian, how cool is that!)

For this project, I handled everything from start to finish: custom branding, a full e-commerce shop with real-time USPS shipping, and a personalized client handbook so Pam & Jeff have everything they need to manage their business online going forward.

I'm going to be honest with you. I am exhausted.

I'm sitting somewhere between chaos and a fresh start, surrounded by boxes, running on coffee and sheer determination. The office is not quite an office yet. My desk is technically set up if you squint at it the right way. And I have no idea which box has my favorite mug in it.

But we are making it!

This past week has been so demanding and also one of the most meaningful. I packed up 13+ years of work, life, and love and carried it into a brand new chapter. And the outpouring of support, kind messages, shares, and encouragement from friends and family made every single exhausting moment worth it.

Thank you. From the bottom of my unpacked, slightly chaotic heart. 💛

I am slowly getting things back to normal over here. The work is already starting to flow again, the ideas are coming, and honestly nothing lights me up more than getting back to doing what I love.
