🌾🚜 Rural Broadband is Becoming a Reality in Champaign County! 🚜🌾

Just a few years ago, many people said it couldn't be done.

Today, our team is out in the field and construction is underway on the CONNECT Champaign County Rural Fiber Project! The vision of bringing true fiber optic broadband to every corner of rural Champaign County is becoming a reality!

Recent news coverage highlighted what this project means for local farms, families, and businesses that have struggled for years with limited internet options. Reliable broadband isn't a luxury anymore—it's essential for modern agriculture, education, healthcare, remote work, and staying connected to the world.

With a 110+ mile underground fiber backbone under construction and additional phases planned, CONNECT Champaign County is laying the foundation for decades of economic growth and opportunity across our rural communities. The project is expected to ultimately bring fiber internet access to thousands of homes, farms, and businesses throughout rural Champaign County.

This effort would not be possible without the support of the Champaign County Board, the Illinois Office of Broadband, the Champaign County Farm Bureau, our engineering and construction partners, and most importantly, the residents who have supported the project from the beginning.

We are proud to be building this network right here in Central Illinois and look forward to delivering the rock-solid reliability and future-proof speeds that only fiber optic internet can provide.

The digital divide is closing. The future is being built in Champaign County today.
