Google just finished rolling out a report that every business owner with a website should open this week, and almost nobody knows it is there.
As of August 31, 2026, Search Console has a new report called Generative AI features. It sits under Performance in the left menu, and it shows how often your pages appear inside AI Overviews and AI Mode. That is the first time Google has ever shown site owners any data on AI answers.
We pulled it up for one of our clients, a real estate brokerage in Central Illinois, and here is what 28 days looked like:
- 5,110 impressions inside AI answers
- 14% of the site's total Google impressions came from AI features
- 85 different pages appeared in an AI answer at least once
- Every one of the top 8 pages was a question-and-answer blog post. The homepage was 10th. The listing pages did not make the list.
That last point is the one to think about. Google's AI is pulling from pages that answer a specific question clearly, not from service pages.
What the report does NOT show: clicks, click-through rate, or the queries that triggered the answer. It is a visibility report, not a traffic report. There is also an opt-out switch under Settings, and we explain why leaving it on is the right call for nearly every small business.
