Piotr Szyhalski, aka , is one of the sharpest, funniest, and most generous artists I know, and I was honored to have him come sit for a portrait, complete in his Labor Camp whites. Casket Artist spotlight: Kendall Laurent - Studio 309

During the summers, Kendall creates large-scale temporary chalk murals at various festivals around the US. Her public artwork is focused on highlighting native plants and animals of the place where I’m creating the artwork. This year, she participated in three out-of-state festivals, including the largest chalk festival in the US in Denver, Colorado.

Kendall’s passion for conservation correlates directly to her public art projects. Bringing attention to native wildlife helps people create a loving bond between their lives and the natural world. When people have a greater appreciation for plants, animals, and wildlife in general, this translates to better conservation and harmony between people and our planet, which we need now more than ever.

Her next public art events are on Sunday, September 20th for Richfield’s Penn Fest where she facilitates a community chalk mural with people of all abilities and ages, and Saturday, September 26th for Prior Lake’s Pleasant Street Art Walk, where she’s creating a temporary mural.
