We’re excited to share that WhiteStone Computers has been selected as a recipient of the Amex Shop Small Grants Program, thanks to Express and .
This $20,000 grant is more than just funding. It is an investment in our ability to grow, innovate, and continue serving our community in a meaningful way.
With this support, we will be creating a Senior Scam Prevention Lab inside WhiteStone Computers. The lab will be designed for personal, one-on-one or two-person training in a comfortable, “living room” style setting rather than a classroom environment.
Our goal is to create a quiet, welcoming space where seniors can sit down, ask questions, and learn at their own pace without feeling embarrassed, rushed, or overwhelmed.
The Senior Scam Prevention Lab will focus on practical, easy-to-understand help, including:
• Recognizing phone, email, text, and online scams
• Understanding suspicious pop-ups, messages, and links
• Learning basic device and account safety
• Reviewing common warning signs before responding to a scam attempt
• Helping seniors know what to do when something does not feel right
• Providing printed scam-prevention materials to take home and share
• Offering a trusted local place to ask questions before harm is done
We see firsthand how often seniors are targeted by scammers, and we know how frightening and confusing technology can become when something suspicious happens. Our goal is not just to fix problems after they happen, but to help prevent them by giving people knowledge, confidence, and a safe place to turn.
We also hope to extend this effort beyond our store through community outreach, including collaboration with the Union City Public Library, so more seniors have access to helpful scam-prevention education.
