If you've accidentally deleted files, here's what to try first (free):

🔍 Step 1 — Check the Recycle Bin. Right-click > Restore. (Yes, this gets missed.)

🔍 Step 2 — Check cloud backups. Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox keep deleted files for 30 days in a Trash folder.

🔍 Step 3 — Try Recuva (free, by Piriform). Download from piriform.com/recuva. Scans your drive for recoverable deleted files. Works surprisingly well for recently deleted items.

🔍 Step 4 — For failing hard drives: STOP using the computer immediately. Do not run Recuva on a physically failing drive — it can accelerate damage. Call a professional.

🔍 Step 5 — For ransomware: Check nomoreransom.org — they offer free decryptors for many ransomware strains.

Data loss doesn't announce itself. It just happens — and then it's a crisis.

A hard drive clicking. A laptop dropped in a parking lot. Ransomware that encrypts every file. An accidental "Select All > Delete." We've helped people recover from all of these.

The hard truth: not all data can be recovered, and waiting too long or attempting a DIY recovery on a failing drive can make things permanently worse. The moment you suspect data loss, the most important thing to do is stop using the device.

At Love IT Services, we've helped clients recover family photos, years of business records, and critical client databases. Some recoveries take hours; some take days. But we never stop without giving you an honest assessment first.

Have a data emergency? Call us — don't wait.

Using unlicensed software isn't just illegal — it's a serious security risk.

Pirated or improperly licensed software doesn't receive official updates or security patches. It often contains hidden malware installed by whoever cracked it. And for businesses, software audits can result in fines that far exceed what the licenses would have cost.

The most common compliance issue we see isn't intentional piracy — it's businesses that bought licenses for 5 seats but now have 12 employees. Or software that came with an old computer and was transferred to a new one in violation of the license agreement.

At Love IT Services, we help small businesses do a simple software audit and get compliant — often finding free or lower-cost alternatives that cover the same needs.

When did your business last audit its software licenses?

The 5 components that determine how your computer feels — and what to do when each one fails:

🖥️ CPU (Processor) — The brain. Affects overall speed. Rarely fails; hard to upgrade in laptops. If slow, likely need new computer.

🖥️ RAM — Affects multitasking and browser tab count. Upgrading from 8GB to 16GB is the single best cheap upgrade for most users. (~$40–60)

🖥️ SSD/Hard Drive — Affects startup speed and file loading. Upgrading from HDD to SSD is a game-changer. (~$60–100 for 500GB SSD)

🖥️ GPU (Graphics Card) — Affects video, gaming, and design work. Usually not the bottleneck for office computers.

🖥️ Battery (Laptops) — If your laptop dies fast, a battery replacement ($60–120) is usually cheaper than a new machine.

Not sure what your computer needs? Bring it in or call us — we'll diagnose it honestly. 📞 520-524-2130

You don't need to be a tech expert — but understanding the basics of what's inside your computer can save you thousands.

Most people replace their entire computer when only one component has failed or needs an upgrade. A computer that "feels slow" might just need more RAM. A machine that "runs out of storage" might just need a larger hard drive. Neither requires buying a new computer.

Knowing the difference between a RAM upgrade ($50) and a motherboard replacement ($200+) — or when it's actually time to replace the whole machine — is the kind of knowledge that saves you money and frustration.

At Love IT Services, we believe in education first. We'll always tell you honestly whether to repair or replace.

Most small businesses treat IT as a "fix it when it breaks" expense. The businesses that thrive treat it as infrastructure.

Every small business — even a two-person shop — needs at minimum: reliable internet, secure devices, cloud backup, and a plan for when something fails. These aren't luxuries. They're the foundation everything else runs on.

The average cost of unplanned IT downtime for a small business is $427 per hour according to industry research. A single afternoon of downtime can cost more than a year of managed IT support.

At Love IT Services, we specialize in right-sizing IT for small businesses and nonprofits in Tucson — giving you enterprise-level protection without the enterprise price tag.

Does your business have an IT plan, or just hope?
