Our Partnership Manager Melissa Frenyea is soaking up the desert sun at Alianza's Navigate 2026 this week: no booth, no swag table, just Missy working the room and making connections.

Here's how she's spending Day 1:

Badge pickup. The most underrated thrill in conference life.

The pre-conference session on the Alianza partner ecosystem partners pitching real solutions to real service-provider problems. Melissa's there scouting how CommSoft can plug in and open up new revenue paths for our shared customers.

A couple of afternoon sessions on the future of voice and communications services squarely in CommSoft's wheelhouse. She's digging into where voice is headed and how AI (wait, what's that? 😉) and other shifts are reshaping the industry.

A welcome reception nightcap because after a full day of ecosystem intel, a girl's earned a cold drink and a chance to put her feet up.

CommSoft shares a bunch of customers with Alianza, so if you're there, keep an eye out for Missy she'd love to say hi. She'll be snapping pics and gathering intel all week to bring back to the team.

We’re excited to officially welcome Donal Crowley as CommSoft’s first Chief Revenue & AI Officer (CRAIO).

Donal brings more than 25 years of experience across telecommunications, enterprise software, OSS/BSS, sales, solution architecture, and AI-driven innovation. But what really excites us is what happens when you bring all of that experience together.

In this newly created role, Donal will lead our sales, marketing, and channel partner organizations while helping shape CommSoft’s enterprise-wide Responsible AI strategy. His focus will be on accelerating growth, strengthening customer and partner relationships, and finding practical ways to use AI to make our products and the providers who rely on them smarter and more efficient.

And as we welcome Donal, we’re also celebrating someone who has been an important part of CommSoft’s journey. Bill Griffin, our current CRO, is heading into a well-earned retirement. We’re incredibly grateful for Bill’s years of leadership, commitment, humor, and contributions to CommSoft. We wish him all the best in his next adventure!

Day One at the 2026 Esri User Conference is in the books, and our Melissa Frenyea shares why it was a perfect way to kick off the week!

Checking in from San Diego, where it's impossible not to get excited about where GIS technology is headed.

The morning plenary was packed with announcements, but a few things really stood out:

The Top 10 ArcGIS enhancements gave us a great look at what's coming next. I'm especially looking forward to experimenting with the new animation capabilities.

The AI-assisted coding enhancements are making powerful GIS tools more accessible to everyone—not just developers.

Updates to Living Atlas and Field Maps continue to raise the bar.

But the phrase that kept coming up throughout the day was:

"AI needs GIS."

That really resonated with me. AI is only as good as the context behind it, and GIS provides that context. One telecom example showcased a subscriber pe*******on dashboard that immediately reminded me of the work we're doing at CommSoft to combine operational and geographic intelligence through our GIS initiatives.

During one of the breaks, I also signed up for Esri's User Research Program. I love that they actively seek feedback from users of all experience levels, and I'm especially interested in helping shape future Business Analyst capabilities that I believe could deliver tremendous value for broadband providers.

The afternoon shifted from technology to inspiration.

We heard incredible stories from organizations using GIS to help communities plan, respond, protect, and connect from the National Weather Service and flood response initiatives to National Geographic's work and an inspiring keynote from Kristine Tompkins on conservation and rewilding.

The day wrapped up with the impressive Map Gallery Reception, the ribbon-cutting of the new National Geographic museum space honoring Jack and Laura Dangermond, and some great networking at the Out in GIS social.

One thing I've always appreciated about Esri is that the technology is never the whole story. It's about what people accomplish with it. Whether it's protecting communities, expanding broadband, responding to disasters, or conserving our natural world, location intelligence is helping solve real problems.

Looking forward to seeing what Day Two has in store and bringing back even more ideas for how GIS can help communications providers make smarter, more informed decisions.
