Scammers no longer need much to fake your voice. Just a few seconds of audio is enough to create a convincing AI-generated phone call or voicemail.

The BBB and FBI warn that these voice-cloning scams are on the rise, and businesses aren't immune. A convincing voicemail from someone posing as a vendor, an executive, or even a coworker asking for an urgent payment can catch a busy team off guard.

A few ways to protect your business:

✔ Verify unusual or urgent requests by calling the person back directly

✔ Watch for pressure to act fast or to keep the request quiet

✔ Be cautious with large or unusual payment requests, especially gift cards or crypto

✔ Set a process (or a "safe word") for verifying sensitive requests internally
