If your business uses Microsoft 365, you've probably seen Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive—but many people aren't sure when to use each one.
Here's a simple breakdown:
OneDrive
Best for your personal work files.
Think of it as your own digital filing cabinet. Files are private unless you choose to share them.
Teams
Best for collaboration and communication.
Use it for chat, video meetings, and working together on files with your team.
SharePoint
Best for company-wide documents.
Policies, procedures, forms, and shared folders that everyone needs access to should typically live in SharePoint.
A simple rule:
• My files = OneDrive
• Team files = Teams
• Company files = SharePoint
Using the right tool makes it easier to find documents, collaborate with coworkers, and keep business information organized.
