Safety isn’t just a policy. It’s a responsibility we have to one another.

While preparing to begin work at a refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, Hunter Villanueva noticed a strong odor and identified a leak coming from a tower. He immediately used his Stop Work Authority, evacuated with his crew, and notified plant operations. The leak was later determined to involve gasoline.

Hunter’s awareness and quick response helped move his crew away from a potentially hazardous situation. We’re proud to recognize him with a new pair of Apple AirPods 4 as a small token of our appreciation.

Thank you, Hunter, for staying alert and looking out for your teammates. Your actions are a great example of the safety culture we work to build every day. At PK Technical & Inspection, every employee is empowered to stop work when a condition may be unsafe.

Our Wichita, Kansas HQ2 team was excited to show off their new safety shirts and support an important message: We all have a reason to go home safely at the end of the day.

As part of our Stop Work and Near Miss Campaign, the PK HSE Team is meeting with employees at each PK location to reinforce the importance of speaking up when something does not look or feel right.
