Be sure that you are using a trusted security suite for virus/malware protection. We only use and sell Symantec and have had years of success with it.

BEWARE: Dont let anyone remote into your computer if you dont know them. I have ran into several instances where a customer (some new because of this) received a phone call stating that they were from Windows and that your PC is infected with mal-ware. They want to remote into your PC and pretend like they are fixing a non-existant problem while they are actually installing malware/viruses - more than likely, it will be ransomware.

I just received a phone call myself in which they told me that my system is infected and they wanted to fix it for me. I asked them to explain how they could see that my PC was infected. They rambled on with some generic terms mentioning IP address and server, etc... I continued to probe and never got a real answer, so I asked them to tell me my IP address. Every home/business has an external IP that would appear to external sites. They stated that they couldnt give out personal information. I then asked them if they were affiliated with Microsoft and they kept telling me that they were affiliated with Windows. Finally, after messing with the lady on the other end for over 10 minutes, a man took over the call (neither of which could I understand well). I asked him the same questions and received similar answers. I pretened like I was going to let him remote into my PC while I continued to ask questions. At one time, he told me that I could call Microsoft and ask for Ron Williams and the call would be transferred to him. He also told me he was a 3rd party company contracted by Microsoft to fix issues like this. Finally, I told him that he called an IT company with Microsoft certified technicians and he hung up on me.

Please dont let these people in your computer. You will regret it, even if you have good virus protection.
