I played on One of the Best Defensive Teams in The State of Florida 1986 Football 🏈 Season.
My Senior Year, I Won 🏆 Best Defensive Lineman at 175 pounds.
We had 5 shutouts defensively. We only gave up 41 points in 11 games.
I played Defensive End.
Emmit Smith of the Pensacola Escambia, later University of Florida Gators and Later Dallas Cowboys had the #1 Offense in the State of Florida.
We went 8-3
3-2 lost, we had Rickards the whole game 2-0, Rickards Field Goal won.
8-5 lost to Godby, we had them jokers🃏 2-0 and then 5-0 throughout the game. Touchdown and Two Point Conversion, Godby won 8-5.
We lost to Madison 20-6, Offensive Fumbles and Interceptions.
▶ In Practice & in the Game, it was Mandatory by Our Coaches, at Plays End...ALL 11 Players had to Be Around the Ball...If not we had Practice after Practice. And it was nothing you wanted to be a part of....(Green Bays—Where coach blew whistle and you had to dive to the ground with both your arms out like Superman—Belly to Ground, Extra Running, Bear Crawl, Duck Walk and More. )
▶ 5 Shutouts in 11 Games with total of 41 points or just over 3.5 points allowed a game.
▶ 7 Games less than 100 yards rushing
▶ 9 Games less than 100 yards passing
▶8 Games with not 12 consecutive plays by opponents.
▶ 9 Games the Defense either scored or setup an immediate score.
▶ 6 Games No 1st Downs inside the 20.
▶ 5 Games Intercepting at least 1 of every 10 passes.
▶ 5 Games we blocked a kick or punt.
✴ Our Senior Banquet, the Florida Gators Florida Gators Football Head Coach (Galen Hall) Spoke on the Mic about our Defense and the Defensive Coordinator for FSU FSU Football Seminoles (Mickey Andrews) also spoke. Bobby Bowden was to speak at first, but was on Recruiting Trip. So he sent Defensive Coordinator, Mickey Andrews.
