We don’t often trade the listening room for a dealer launch event, but an invitation to the unveiling of the Porsche Cayenne Electric was an easy yes. 🏎️
What stood out most was the crowd: families with children, young people, enthusiasts, and collectors, all in a relaxed, warm atmosphere. Instead of standing back to admire the vehicles, people took turns sitting in them, imagining what it would be like to live with one and whether it was right for them.
One of our favorite conversations was with a Macan owner, who was eager to learn what Porsche had improved and fascinated by how the company keeps making its vehicles better.
That curiosity stuck with us. There’s an old GE slogan we’ve always loved: “Progress is our Most Important Product.” The goal isn’t simply to make another version. It’s to understand what came before and find ways to make it better. Porsche seems to share that mindset, embracing new technology and rethinking what a car can be while continuing to evolve some of the most recognizable designs in automotive history. Progress doesn’t have to mean abandoning heritage. Sometimes it means finding new ways to carry it forward.
We feel the same at LTA. We’re interested in progress, but not for its own sake. We’re equally interested in the ideas, technologies, and craftsmanship worth preserving, and in what happens when they’re reconsidered through a modern lens.
It’s a common thread among enthusiasts of performance cars, cycling, and high-end audio. We appreciate thoughtful design and a machine carefully tuned to do what it does exceptionally well, and we want to feel the difference. Whether it’s on the road, on the bike, or in the way a piece of music comes alive through a system, there’s always another few percent to chase.
Which brings us to a bit of irony. Our Century monoblocks were recently described as the “Ferrari of high-power tube amplification.” We’re flattered, truly, but we’d been hoping for “the Porsche of high-power tube amplification.” After all, while they might not be for everyone, Porsche makes cars you might consider driving every day. 😆
We think the same should be true of high-end audio.
