Back in December 1987, the first widely disruptive worm called, Christmas Tree EXEC, was created.

The worm was sent through emails, drew a Christmas Tree in text and had a Christmas message beside the tree, then sends itself to your contacts in the email. This was back in the time when malware makers just did what they do-- because they can.

Nowadays, malware makers are more malicious and do it for the money.

In the days of paper envelopes and mail, you needed to write 2 addresses

1. The From address on the upper left
2. The TO address is in the middle of the envelope.
Do you know that the mail can get to a person, even without the FROM address?

That is how email works as well, the most important part of the message is the recipient, not the sender. Hackers can actually create bogus ""senders"" for their emails, but it goes somewhere else when you hit reply.

That's Email Spoofing. Sounds simple but is quite devastating.
