Marketing collateral is the part of your brand that works even when you’re not there.

It sounds like a boring corporate term, but it’s honestly one of the most powerful things your brand can have.

It’s all the tangible pieces that carry your brand into the world: your packaging, tote bags, menus, thank-you notes, the wax paper your product comes wrapped in. Your logo and website are where your brand lives online, but this is how it shows up in real life. I like to think of it as expanding your brand’s universe.

When these pieces are beautiful and intentional, your customers become your marketing. Someone carries your branded bag down the street and everyone sees it. Your packaging is too pretty not to share, so people post it without you ever asking. I call it visual word of mouth, and it’s marketing that keeps paying off long after the pieces are made.

Your logo is important, but it's just one piece of the puzzle. It's the mark that people recognize you by, but it can't carry your whole business on its lil back! If I were a service provider coming off a fully booked summer, but I was overbooked and undercharging, here's what I'd do this fall to make next season a success:

Being booked solid feels amazing until you realize you were run off your feet all summer, saying yes to everything, and charging rates that didn't come close to matching the quality you were delivering. If that sounds like your last few months, it usually points to one thing. Your business has outgrown your brand.

You're working at a level your pricing and positioning haven't caught up to yet, and that gap is exactly what keeps you overworked and underpaid.

Fall is the perfect time to close that gap. While things slow down, you have a few quiet months to realign your brand with the caliber of work you're doing now and the clients you actually want. Brand designer vs Ai 🤪

I've been seeing this trend on IG for a little while now and have been dying to try it, so I pulled a brand I created earlier this year from a brief by DESIGNERBRIEFS | Weekly Design Challenges and let Chat GPT & Claude try their hand at it.

The biggest difference I see between any AI design and actual human work is a huge lack of personality and warmth. For this project, I created hand drawn illustrations inspired by Planting Fields Arboretum in Long Island, which brings in a human touch. I wanted to lean into that slow living, cozy vintage vibe.

first look into the new brand identity for four wellness | by courtney devanna 🤎

Four Wellness is a Long Island wellness brand that helps women discover wellness experiences, resources and community.

This was such a special project to work on because as a Long Island wellness girl myself, it makes a huge difference in our local space to have a trusted resource where we can come together to learn & share experiences in the wellness community. It was such a dream to work with Courtney to bring her vision for this brand to life!
