_Devotion_ : *The Blessing of Divine Instruction*
Main text: Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Introduction
God does not only want to bless us; He also wants to guide us. Many times, the blessing we are looking for is connected to an instruction we have not yet obeyed. Divine instruction may sometimes seem simple, difficult, or even strange, but obedience opens the way for God's purpose to be fulfilled.
*1.God gives instructions because He knows the way*
God sees what we cannot see. When He gives an instruction, it is because He knows what lies ahead.
Isaiah 30:21 says:
“This is the way, walk ye in it.”
We may not understand everything at the beginning, but we can trust the One who gives the instruction.
*2.An instruction only becomes fruitful when it is obeyed*
Knowing God's Word is important, but obedience is what produces results.
James 1:22:
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.”
Noah received an instruction to build the ark. He obeyed, even before seeing the rain. His obedience became a means of preservation for his household (Genesis 6:14–22).
*3.Partial obedience is not complete obedience*
Sometimes we obey God only when His instruction agrees with what we want. But true obedience means trusting God even when we do not fully understand.
Saul was instructed to completely destroy the Amalekites, but he kept what God had commanded him to destroy. Samuel therefore said:
1 Samuel 15:22:
“To obey is better than sacrifice.”
*4.Your next instruction may determine your next season*
God may give you an instruction concerning your prayer life, your character, your relationships, your service, your giving, or your ministry.
The important question is not only:
“Lord, what will You give me?”
but also:
“Lord, what do You want me to do?”
*Conclusion*
Never despise a divine instruction because it appears small. A small instruction can lead to a great testimony.
*Ask yourself today:*
What has God already told me to do?
Have I obeyed completely?
Is there an instruction I have been postponing?
Am I willing to obey even when I don't understand everything?
*Prayer:*
“Lord, give me a heart that hears Your voice and obeys Your instructions. Remove every spirit of disobedience, fear, and doubt from my life. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see the whole picture. Give me grace to walk in Your ways and fulfill Your purpose for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
