π¨ Beware of Device Code Attacks from our NOC/SOC Specialist, Nick π¨
You may receive a message asking you to enter a code to sign in or verify your account. While device codes are a legitimate authentication method, cybercriminals can abuse them to trick users into approving an authentication request they initiated.
A common attack looks like this: an attacker starts the sign-in process and sends the victim a code or link, often posing as IT support or a trusted service. If the victim completes the request, the attacker may gain access to the account or authorized resources.
Be suspicious if someone asks you to:
β Approve a login you didn't initiate.
β Enter a device or verification code unexpectedly.
β Authenticate because of an alleged account issue.
β Approve access for an unfamiliar application or service.
β Follow authentication instructions from an unexpected message.
Remember: Never approve an authentication request you didn't initiate. When in doubt, stop and contact your IT or security team through a trusted channel.
