I don’t usually post personal things on this page but I think this warrants it. On Tuesday, October 13th I married my best friend Kya DeWitt and even though we’ve been together for thirteen years, and have felt like we were already married, it feels good to call it official. We had a small ceremony at Stonyman Valley Ranch in Luray and then spent the next few hours in Shenandoah National Park before heading back to our air bnb for a private dinner. Thank you so much to Juliana | Virginia & DC Elopement Photographer | Business Coach for the photos and for going above and beyond what we could imagine! My head ware is courtesy of the one and only Lawrence Malcom

As for the 1863 Designs side of things, I will be getting orders out today but again I will be out of state starting tomorrow through October 30th spending some time away with the official Mrs. 1863 Designs. Sticker and poster order (or any orders containing them) will be delayed until that date. Thank you so much for the support and patience!

A Reminder for Orders:
Today (October 9th) is the last day to place sticker and poster orders as I will be out of town from tomorrow (October 10th) until October 30th. That means sticker and poster orders (or any order in which those are apart of) made during that time will have a delayed shipment date of October 16th and October 30th. All apparel and drink ware items will ship out normally as those come directly from the production company. I apologize for any inconvenience

13th Indiana Vol Infantry
1st National Flag
Paton & Co, NY
Issued June 1861
Replaced in 1863

The 13th Indiana Volunteer Infantry mustered into federal service on June 19, 1861. They had quite the travel record during their service. Beginning at Rich Mountain in modern West Virginia under George McClellan in 1861, to the 1862 Valley Campaign in the 5th Corps, Suffolk in Spring 1863 with the 7th Corps, and Charleston that fall with the 10th Corps (whom they would serve primarily with the remainder of the war). Spring 1864 found them with the 18th Corps at Drury’s Bluff and Cold Harbor before returning to the 10th Corps for the Siege of Petersburg. From there they joined up in the Carolinas Campaign at Fort Fisher and Wilmington before seeing the surrender of Johnson at Bennet House. The 13th Indiana mustered out on September 5, 1865. Of the 1,427 who served with the regiment, 255 were either killed or died of disease.

The flag shown here was their 1st National Colors produced by Paton & Co in New York City. It is a silk flag with a square canton, double-appliqué stars, and an embroidered unit designation. You may notice on the image of the original additional horizontal stitching. This was to attach the original to a basic recreation that acted as a backing and to show original dimensions. All this including the paper tag and units war time travel map were done by the state flag collection conservator Major David Isaac McCormick in 1919. Their 2nd National does not have any unit designation or battle honors.

This and several others are available on the store!

A huge thank you to the Indiana War Memorial Museum for providing the image of the original.

Another updated redesign of a fan favorite! Though not from the line spoken, it is from the same scene so that’s close enough for me! Plus visually it works better! Cheers!

Happy Monday!
October is going to be a very busy month for me with life events and these will be affecting shipping and completion times for custom orders as well as sticker and poster orders. I will be out of state from Saturday October 10th through Friday October 30th. I will not be closing the store BUT any sticker/poster orders made during that time will have a delayed shipping date of either October 16th or October 30th. Apparel and mug orders are not affected by this as those ship directly from the production company. Custom flag or unit apparel items may also be delayed depending on what time I have while I’m gone so please be aware of that. I will also send a message to any buyer as reminder as well. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to reach out!
Thank you as always for the support!!

100th Illinois Volunteer Infantry
2nd National Colors
Philadelphia Depot, late 1863/early 1864 issue

The 100th Illinois Infantry was mustered into federal service on August 30, 1862 and consisted primarily of men from Will County. They spent the war with the Army of the Cumberland in the 14th, 21st, and 4th Corps and fought in every major action of that army from Stones River to Franklin including Chickamauga and Atlanta Campaign. They mustered out on June 15, 1865 after 1,020 days of service. In total 1,022 names are written on its war time roster with 214 of those being lost to the conflict including Colonel Frederick A Bartelson who was killed at Kennesaw Mountain. As always, the battle honors on my version of the flag are as they are appear on original.

This and several others are available on the store!

Been working on this year’s Halloween design piece by piece when I’ve had a free chance. It’s pretty much set for a release within the next week but here’s a preview shot from the first moments of the design work.

A word of warning with this one though, Beware Hitchhiking…..Commanders?
