🍎 How about them apples, Steilacoom? This Sunday, one of our favorite hometown traditions returns for a pretty impressive milestone: the 50th Annual Apple Squeeze!

Downtown Steilacoom will be overflowing with all things apple, including hand-pressed c***r you can help make yourself, apple fritters, caramel apples, apple butter, pie and ice cream, c***r floats, and hot spiced c***r. 🍏😂 As per ususal, there’ll also be live music, local vendors, crafts, kids’ activities, and plenty of good old-fashioned small-town fall fun. 🌄 Living in the PNW comes with some pretty spectacular scenery. It also comes with a few... geological quirks. Earthquakes. Tsunamis. Volcanoes. They’re all part of living in our beautiful corner of the world, and knowing a little more about them can go a long way toward being prepared.

On September 30, subject matter experts from the Washington Emergency Management Division are coming to Steilacoom Town Hall for a free community presentation covering the science behind these natural hazards, how they could impact Steilacoom and Pierce County, and what we can do to prepare and respond. No doom and gloom required. Just good information, smart preparation, and neighbors looking out for neighbors. 💙

Thomas Dambo’s Trolls are coming to our neck of the woods!

Beginning October 15, twelve larger-than-life trolls will be hiding among the forests and trails at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park and Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, each with its own personality, story, and point of view. Even better, they’re handcrafted primarily from reclaimed wood and materials.

Around the Blu Room, we’re big believers in creativity, storytelling, and letting your imagination wander a little off the beaten path. So, naturally, giant trolls in the woods are speaking our love language.

We love seeing art that makes people explore, wonder, smile, and look at the world a little differently. And we can’t wait to meet these guys in person. Welcome to the neighborhood, trolls. We think you’ll fit right in. 🌲👀

⚓ Steilacoom, we’ve all been waiting a long time to say this... Topside is coming back soon. 💙

After a long road, a lot of hard work, and more than a little patience, one of our community’s most beloved gathering places is getting closer to welcoming everyone through its doors again.

For so many of us, Niki & John's special place has never been just a restaurant. It’s where we’ve met loved ones for dinner, grabbed coffee, raised a glass, celebrated milestones, taken in the waterfront, and simply enjoyed being part of this little town we call home.

There’s still a little more work ahead, but the wait is almost over. We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with the family behind Topside as they prepare for what comes next, and even more excited to finally share these words: Opening sooner rather than later... Stay tuned. ⚓🥂

🍎 Back to school, Steilacoom!

Around here, “back to school” has a little extra history behind it. Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1 has been doing this whole education thing for a very long time (since 1854!) Generations of backpacks, lunchboxes, first-day jitters, and school pictures later, a new year begins again.

Here’s to fresh notebooks, new teachers, old friends, new friends, packed lunches that may or may not get eaten, and another great year for the students, families, teachers, and staff who make our little corner of the PNW such a special place to grow up.

Today is National Fantasy Football Draft Day — the annual tradition of carefully studying statistics, trusting your gut, and watching someone draft a kicker six rounds too early.
