October is National Women's Small Business Month, and this is the group we'd point any woman running a business in the Valley toward.

Valley Women Collab started in 2023 as one International Women's Day event, Megan Burrows's idea for showcasing the women-owned businesses. Joa Garcia of Prism Consulting and Breanna Decker-Grant of Juniper Lane joined her, and it grew into Valley Women's Weekend: live music, pop-up vendors, and expert panels.

Now it runs all year, with monthly member sessions, ongoing programming, and a membership built around community, accountability, and real chances to grow. The March weekend is still the cornerstone. It's just not the whole story anymore.

ChatGPT has ads now. They don't change the answer. They show up underneath it, labeled as sponsored, and in a new test, tapping one opens a chat with the advertiser's own AI. One of the first companies trying that is Angi, the home-services lead marketplace.

So picture someone in the Valley asking ChatGPT who to call about a leaking water heater. The answer is still the answer. Right under it, there can be a sponsored spot that hands them to Angi.

Here's the part that matters if you're a plumber, a roofer, or a landscaper. The answer itself can't be bought, so the way into it is what's out there about your business: your website, your Google Business Profile, and your reviews. The ad slot underneath is one more place to rent attention.

We used to build websites for businesses that didn't have a logo yet. The site would launch with a placeholder, the logo would arrive three months later, and half the pages needed redoing to match it.

So the order is now written into the plans. Brand first, website second. Start a website build with us within six months of your branding project and 25% of the branding fee comes off the build.

The designer building your site starts with real colors and type instead of guesses. You don't pay twice when the logo changes mid-project. And the first job helps pay for the second.

Most logo pricing pages say "starting at" and then ask you to book a call. Ours says the number.

Logo: $600. Two to three concepts, one primary logo, two rounds of revisions, and the full file package in screen and print formats.

Mini brand guide: $1,200. The logo plus a small icon version for tight spots like a social avatar, your typefaces and colors, and a one-page guide you can email to a printer or a sign shop.

Full brand guide: $2,400. Everything above plus logo variants, a set of branded decorations to dress up whatever you're making, social profile images, and a complete multi-page brand book.

Every plan comes with the same terms: half to start, half on delivery, and files that are yours once the invoice is paid. Nonprofits get 20% off.

Search "how much does a logo cost" and the first page is Fiverr, Vistaprint, and Looka. All three sell logos, and all three would like the answer to be twenty dollars.

The real range is $0 to $50,000, and the price means nothing until you know what comes with it. New on the blog: the price ranges, the files you should walk away with, and the three flat prices we charge for logos and brand guides here in Staunton.

AI doesn't read your sales pitch – it reads your listings, reviews, and site structure, then checks whether they match. "St." vs. "Street" in two places is enough to lose you the recommendation. 😮

Some studio news.

Vistoso Creative has quietly been a working lab for a while now. AI assistants handle the mechanical side of every project here: proposal drafts, the repeatable steps of building and deploying a site's infrastructure, and many of the graphics and images that reach this page. Dan makes every call on strategy and design taste. The assistants do the typing. It's how a one person studio ships like a bigger one, without shipping slop.
