Event Success! The Museum of Contemporary Religious Art (MOCRA) closed permanently on May 31, 2026. However, we plan to do all we can to carry the spirit and story of MOCRA forward.

"Pursuing the Spirit: The Museum of Contemporary Religious Art" is now in print, made possible through a stellar creative and production team (including Mary Ann Steiner, Jon Cournoyer, Nate Sprehe and Katie Hileman of Sprehe Studio, Robert Bullivant and the team at Robert Bullivant Gallery/Cultural Heritage Preservation, John Heaney and the team at Advertisers Printing Co., and the folks at Wrap-Ups), the many artists who gave permission to reproduce their artworks, and a number of generous financial supporters (shout-out to the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis).

A book release celebration will be held on Sunday, September 27, at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art from 1 to 4 pm. If you can't come by that day, we'll have the book available at a couple of places on the Saint Louis University campus, or you can order the book. Thanks to those generous donors, the book is available at no charge, though we will ask you to cover the shipping and handling.

I'm immensely grateful to everyone who assisted in ways small or great with this project. And I'm especially grateful to Fr. Terry Dempsey, S.J., MOCRA's founding director, for his friendship, his vision, and the gift of MOCRA.
